the switch flipped, "TADA!" lily shouted, the lights on the Christmas tree flickered a few times before actually going bright. " Now all we need is the star" , she sat down on the leather chair, "I HAVE A STAR!" her little brother yelled, holding up a yellow paper star, coloured in horribly.
"did you make that" her brother nodded, "your gonna use it right?". Lily sighed and took the star, "of course". She couldn't upset her brother, no matter how horrible it was, she grabbed one of the white plastic stools, and placed the paper star on the highest branch so It wouldn't fall off. "Do you like it?" her brother asked, lily fake smiled, "of course I do, I- I love it" she couldn't upset her brother. Her parents wouldn't allow it.
Lily looked over to her mother, glancing at lily. then at her brother. Urging her to say more, "its beautiful" she lied, it was easy to lie to her brother, because he was young, he believed she was telling the truth.
"Thanks lil" she stepped off the stool and sighed once more, "are you exited for Santa to come?" she looked over to her mum, "I hope Santa gets me a nerf gun, I told him that in my letter" lily smiled kindly back and sat next to her mum, and smirked at her distressed face. Her parents didn't read their children's letter, so they didn't know what they wanted. They didn't know he wanted that.
Her mother placed her hand on lilys shoulder, and handed her money.
