Jess's POV

It was like any other normal day for me, I had managed to blow up a library, kill a few monsters, and get my brand new leather jacket slimed on monster guts. Great.

Look I didn't ask to be a half blood I was just born that way. I was at Camp Half Blood sitting in my bunk when suddenly everything started spinning and shaking. I grabbed my skull trying to stop the vibrating.

"A disappointment to the family so far." A powerful female voice rumbled.

"Soon my dear, you will serve me! Everyone always says to respect your mother right?" I got out my ring and it transformed into a sword this time.

"I'm not your daughter!" I yelled. "I don't serve you!"

"Oh but you do, in ways you don't even realize!" She cackled and I the world spun and I fell to the ground.

When I opened my eyes I was on the ground curled up. I couldn't stop trembling. I had to get out of this stuffy Zeus cabin. I ran to the door and sprinted away.

"Jess, where are you going?" Jason yelled looking worried.

I ignored him and kept running. I ran straight into the woods not caring about all the monsters that stalked the forest. I stumbled over rocks and crashed to the dirt. I was hyperventilating.

"Jess?" A guy's voice called out. Leo Valdez appeared out of the bushes.

"Jess," his voice shook. "What are you doing? Stop... The dirt... It's..."

This was my problem, I didn't even realize I had a tornado of dirt and rock swirling around me uncontrollably. Leo approached slowly dodging dirt chunks and rocks. He put his hand on my shoulder and the tornado stopped all at once.

"I will not serve her." I muttered. "She's, she is not my mother!"

Leo looked worried. "What's going on? The who is not your mother?"

I looked into his eyes and tears spilled over. "I don't know." He hugged me tight. "Please just explain."

I told him about the voice in my head and the ongoing problem with dirt and rocks that I had. For some reason I could control dirt, mud, and rocks.

It wasn't unusual for a demigod to have inhuman powers, but none of the gods had powers over the Earth, except one.

My godly parent was Zeus, god of the sky and lightning. I had what was considered normal demigod powers for a child of Zeus, I could electrocute people, create thunder storms, and manipulate the air. But this power over the Earth was getting worse and more uncontrollable everyday.

"Oh gods Jess, she's saying she's your mother and she wants you to destroy the world! And your powers over the Earth, it could only be-" Leo started.

"Please don't speak her name." I interrupted. If my mother was really who we were thinking about, this could mean one wrong move from me I could destroy the world and end the gods.

"Too bad this isn't a mechanical problem or I'd hit tighten some screws, hit it with a wrench and it's be all fixed." Leo joked. I appreciated his humor.

Leo had powers over machines and could build and fix almost anything. He was the son of Hephaestus, god of forges and blacksmiths.

A horn blew in the distance.

"Well on that happy note it's dinnertime!" Leo said healing me up.
