Jess's POV
It was almost 11:30 so I looked in the mirror one last time, put on my jacket and went around to the back of my cabin.
I was looking up at the stars, identifying all the constellations when a voice said:
"You looking for UFOs up there or something?"
"Leo!" I made a tiny spark shock his arm. "I'll get you for that."
He was leaning against the stone cabin walls in brand new clothes I'd never seen him wear before. He was grinning his usual impish grin while tapping his fingers and fidgeting constantly.
"So uh, what are we here for?" I asked. He suddenly grabbed my hand.
"Lets go find out."
We ran through almost complete darkness except Leo's hand which he made a flame dance across his fingertips. Yeah he has that power.
"And behold the S.S Lesssica!" Leo motioned toward a beautiful metal boat with lights strung across it and a picnic blanket and basket in it.
"Oh my gods Leo! This is amazing!"
"Amazing is my specialty!" He grinned. He did a mock bow and helped me in the boat.
"There you go miss"
"Oh, why thank you kind sir." I teased.
"To what destination suits your needs?" He asked.
"Surprise me." He started rowing till we were in the middle of the lake.
"Getting tired yet Sir?" I asked.
"No." He said panting. "II'm bursting with energy!"
"How about a lunch break?" I asked.
"I suppose." He sighed.
"Oh my gods!" I held up the Sour Patch Kids.
"My favorite!" I tried to hug him and almost flipped the boat over in the process.
"Geez Jess! Lucky for us this bad boy has stabilizers" he laughed. I was blushing uncontrollably.
Leo looked really great in the moonlight. He constantly had a smile on his face. He was dorky in such a cute way. Maybe Jason was right, I did want this to be a date.
"You know it's right." A voice said in my head, none other than Aphrodite herself. We brushed hands a few times and almost, just almost kissed!
We were gazing into each others eyes, suddenly Leo moved slightly forward and so did I. I closed my eyes ready for the kiss when suddenly the world turned upside down and Leo and I were underwater along with all the picnic stuff.
We came up laughing.
"You're such a dork." I teased.
"Least I didn't flip the boat!" He splashed me with a little water.
"Oh it's on!" I challenged. We doused each other in water until we could barely swim from laughing so hard. We had to drag the canoe all the way back to land.
"Shh, someone will hear." I warned but we were laughing so hard it didn't matter.
Eventually we ended up back at the Zeus cabin, but neither of us said anything because we didn't want the night to end.
"Tonight was just so awesome." Leo said.
"I know, I had an amazing time." I smiled.
"Tomorrow that rock climbing contest, you're on!" He challenged.
"Fine! But only if you're ok with getting beat!" We laughed.
"Well see you tomorrow." He said. I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek and said "see you tomorrow."
I closed the door. I couldn't stop smiling. Tonight with Leo was one of the best nights of my life. He looked so great, and he's so fun to be around.
"Well, well, well. Look who it is!" Jason smirked, "was your date fun?"
"Yeah!" I smiled, "but it wasn't a date!"
"Oh just a friendly meeting!" he mimicked me, "you've been gone for 3 hours!" I was blushing so much.
"But anyway tell me all about it!" Jason insisted. I told him most of the details and all he did was nod and smile and mutter something to himself.
"You and Leo, wow!" Jason laughed.
"Shut up!" and I thew a pillow at him.
Could I really be falling for Leo? Was that even I date? None of my questions were answered yet.
"By the way Jess," Jason remarked, "I saw you kiss him on the cheek." And then he went to bed and fell asleep snoring.
