Prologue
"Aye yo Brytus!"
Shit, she saw me. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath before flipping my medium brown hair over my shoulder. I tend to change my hair color often, and now it's close to a chestnut color. Soon I will go back to my original dirty blonde, almost brown. Or maybe even a lighter blonde. Who knows.
It's not that I was trying to stay away from my best friend of five years. It's that I was in a hurry to the mall. Hot Topic was having a sale on all band tees and I was in desperate need of some new ones. My twin brother- Brick - has been stealing them, don't ask why we are the same size. And do not laugh at his name. Everyone calls him Ricky... except me.
"Yes Cassie?" I asked as politely as I could. She is probably going to tell me the same thing she does everyday. All she ever does is try to set me up with some one. And she only succeeded once, but that's a different story.
"I forgot to tell you earlier, but did you notice Robert totally checking you out today?" She squealed as we bounded down the hallway. I rolled my eyes. She knows how much I despise that guy.
"Ali come on. You have known him since sixth grade and-"
"No he's been in my classes since sixth grade." I corrected again. She always brings up this conversation. And each time I say the same thing.
"Alison."
"Cassandra." I mocked her. She rolled her eyes, annoyed. We stopped at the edge of the curb before heading out separate ways.
"We will finish this later." She promised with a point of her finger at me. I believed her too because every time she says that she calls me no longer than two hours later.
Robert is an odd character. Class clown with his group of friends: Zach, Ricky, Austin, and Alex. Despite all of the times Ricky has had them over I managed to talk to everybody except Rob. He is actually in a relationship which is exactly why I don't want to hear what Cass has to say. His girlfriend is no other than Camila Crosse.
Now back to Rob. I'd be lying if I said he wasn't attractive. His style of clothing is similar to his friends, but at the same time it's different. Over the years I have learned to tolerate him, I have to tolerate him. He is in more than half of my classes, sadly. Actually the only one he isn't in with me is Art. And because of the odd way the teachers here set up our assigned seats I just so happen to be by him and Camila.
My car is parked behind a school bus that never leaves the lot and is on the left side of the school. Twirling my lanyard around my hand, I approached my car.
"Cause I love me, I love me enough for the both of us
That's why you trust me, I know you been through more than most of us
So what are you, what are you, what are you so afraid of?
Darling you, you give but you cannot take love..." I sang softly along with the music coming from a near by car.
"I needed to hear that shit, I hate when you're submissive
Passive aggressive when we're texting, I feel the distance
I look around the peers that surround me, these niggas tripping
I like when-" A males voice rapped after me. My eyes darted upward to my car.
"Robert what are you doing in my car?" I paused three feet away from my muscle car in confusion.
"How the hell did you start it?" All he did was chuckle. Is this guy serious right now? Does he not know how much I hate him?
"Muscle cars are very easy to hot wire, babe. Especially a challenger like this." He stayed in my car without a care in the world. The fact that he called me 'babe' didn't phase me one bit. He calls everyone babe... I think. If he didn't then that would be creepy.
"Well..." He started as I sat in the driver seat. I noticed that that he was wearing a beanie. He never wears beanies, or at least that's what I heard today.
"What are you still doing here? You have friends, and a girlfriend. Now go!" I scolded and raised my voice. I am not in the mood to have to deal with Camila if she decides to stop by.
"Ricky was going to give me a ride, but he forgot and then I saw you were still at your locker when I was leaving so I was like, "'Hey, I know her maybe she can give me a ride home.' So here I am." He said like it was no big deal. I thought about what he said and was about to answer until I realized something. There were plenty of other people he could have asked for a ride, but he chose me? I mean Zach was still there!
"Uhm.... ok. But I have to go to the mall, then I have to finish my home work before the Teen Wolf premiere." Somewhere in between the mall and my homework he told me that he would join me.
"After the mall I can help you with your homework, I mean it's only Language Arts and I'm acing that class. I was already planning to watch the premiere with the guys now I can watch it with you." Again I had to wait a few seconds before replying. Why is he offering to spend the day with me? I thought I annoyed him? First he 'checked me out' now this. Well isn't this day just amazing.
I looked at him one last time. He was using the puppy dog look and that always works on me. I hate it.
"Fine, fine." I gave in as I pulled out of the lot. Robert turned the volume up a few notches before he continued to jam out. Surprisingly enough we some how sang in rhythm. I sang the choruses and he took care of the verses. After the first few songs we just sat there in silence because the album had played it's last song.
Robert being here is a major set back. I am very surprised I have lasted this long with the kid. Wait no, not kid. I mean guy I guess. We both are 18 after all. Back to him being a set back. This means that before he gets up to my room I have to run ahead of him and de-clutter my room. But oh no! My posters... the only two obsessions I have are with bands and Drake. Drizzy Drake yes. We hit a speed bump, sending me back to that horrid place of reality.
"You're a good rapper..." I muttered without making eye contact. It was the honest truth, he's one of the best I had ever heard.
"I know." He cockily stated. There's the jerk I was missing. Every day since the first day of sixth grade I knew for a fact that I hated him. Sure he made me laugh, but I sure as hell didn't want to.
The next five minutes were silent as I attempted to find a parking spot. Why is the mall so busy? It's a Tuesday afternoon. Well after some groaning and swearing, I found a perfect spot. At the end of the lot. It wasn't my ideal decision no, but it was the best I could do.
Robert and I took the long walk to the food court entrance. Right as we walked in is when everything went down hill. Not that is wasn't already terrible, this was just worse if that was even possible.

And that, my dear readers, was the prologue to my new story. Very cliche I know, but I wanted to try this.
