"I built these walls around me, you know. And she was the only girl that broke through them.

I love her," Marco declared.

Kisses forced herself to smile. She nodded and showed Marco her best smile. She felt as if she was about to cry, but she had to stop her tears from coming out.

"I gotta go, I have a date tonight. Wish me luck?"

"Good luck, Marco," Kisses said mechanically. She felt as if she was looking at this scene from the outside. Who was this person who kept answering Marco and behaving normally? She's strong.

Kisses robotically went out from Marco's car. She turned back to say her goodbyes.

"Oh, is it okay for you if we don't go to school together anymore? If all goes well, I'll be riding with Vivoree and her house is on the other side of the city," Marco said.

"Oh, no, don't worry about it. I have Manong Bert naman."

"Thanks, Kisses. You're the best, I knew you would understand," Marco said with a smile.

"It's really not a big problem," Kisses said.

"Thank you sa pag support mo sa lovelife ko. Love you!" Marco said excitedly.

"Bye na!" Kisses offered a smile and hurriedly went inside her house.

The moment she had turned her back on Marco, she finally let her tears fall freely. She walked inside the house still crying. She hurriedly went upstairs to her room and locked the door.

She'd known about Marco's crush on Vivoree for a long time now. Why was it still so painful? They were never together. They were never boyfriend/girlfriend, but why did she feel this way.

She was so stupid. For all the years that they'd been friends, why did she put meaning behind Marco's caring words and actions towards her? So what if it made her special? He never said anything that hinted at him liking her as more than a friend. He never talked to her about relationships, or about his future plans with her. He talked about those with Vivoree in mind.

She'd had crushes before, she'd liked someone else, but she knew what she felt for Marco was different. It was bigger, it was deeper, it was special.

'But I guess it was special for me, not for him,' Kisses thought sadly. Still crying her heart out, staring at her room's ceiling. 'How was I so stupid? Why did I let myself fall for him?' Kisses lightly slapped her cheeks over and over again.

'And you,' she pointed at her heart, 'Why did you let yourself fall for that guy?'

'Stop it,' she poked at her heart, 'Stop feeling this way, stop beating for him, stop reacting to the thought of him, don't tell my brain what to do!'

She repeatedly poked at her heart, 'Don't tell me what to do!'

A miniature devil Kisses popped up over her left shoulder, 'Tsk! I told you so! All your doubts about that good for nothing guy came true! We should have burned him at a stake!'

A miniature angel Kisses popped up over her right shoulder, 'Your feelings were real. You truly did love him, but that's just life. We don't always get the person we want.'

'I know that, Angel. But why does it hurt so much?' Kisses said, crying fresh new tears.

Her angel just looked at her sadly, 'I know it's painful, but just think that somewhere out there, the one God has chosen for you, he's still waiting for you. It's not Marco, it's someone even better, because he's yours. He is the one who was truly meant for you.'
