His footsteps faded and once I could no longer hear the TV replaying the screams of the victims we had killed. I knew he was gone for the day. I breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Gina my darling!" The annoying sound of the red haired reaper filled my room. Grell always visited whenever Drocell would step out. He was annoying and would talk about some demon he fancied but he was company none the less. He could be pretty entertaining as well, I guess you could say I considered him to be a friend. None of my fellow 'brothers and sisters' were my friends. They never really associated with me since I was locked up, a few were envious of me as well since I was Drocell's favourite.
They made note of that when we were out on missions. I had the scars to prove it.
"Your rather early today. You got here as soon as he left." I said while flipping through the book of nursery rhymes.
"I have a couple souls to reap later on, so I decided to spend my time with you darling. Still locked in your room I see. Must be sad while your accomplices get to roam outside." Grell sneered and I continued to read.
"I'm his favourite. I can't leave."
Grell hummed before he held up his death scythe chainsaw and tapped it against the iron bars. Looking up I saw his mischievous face. "Shall I bust you out. A death scythe can cut through anything."
"There would be no fun in escaping this way. When I leave this place I'll burn everything down. That would be more fun."
"An arsonist for a friend. Ahh fire makes me think of Sebas-chan! Oh how i wish our love could burn as heated as your fire will." I smirked at Grell's little rant about his supposed lover. He even wiggled his bottom a bit in a sort of dance that was enough to make me crack a smile.
"Ahhh there's the smile. poor thing you haven't smiled much since I first came here a year ago. Drocell keinz was supposed to die that day too. I pity having his name on the waiting list for recapture. I would take his soul in a heartbeat if it wasn't for William monitoring me."
"He already has no soul."
"Then I'll just take his body!"
It never failed to amaze me how Grell could make anything sound dirty, even if he never intended to. It must have been hard for Grell though, a reaper that was constantly pining over a demon who would never love him. Demon's couldn't love, they were incapable of the emotion- or so folklore foretold- once in a while I would ask him to tell me about this Sebas-chan demon of his. It made for good stories, and helped pass the time.
"How are things with your Sebas-chan?" I asked and instantly he smiled. His glasses foggy up and he began hyperventilating.
"We're like Romeo and Juliet! Destined to be with one another and torn apart because of our separate worlds." He dramatically stated. I raised an eyebrow.
"Romeo and Juliet ended in death. "
"The ending is just frivolous details, besides neither Sebas-chan and I can die." I coughed. Grell pouted. "You on the other hand can. Have you been taking the food I brought? The water?"
I shook my head. "Drocell found it all last time. I haven't eaten in a while, he lets me drink water though."
"I'm risking William's punishment for nothing. " He puffed out his cheeks and shook his head making the chains attached to his glasses jingle. "This won't do I must break you out."
Drocell's footsteps were heard once again and I felt my body tense.
"Keep her under lock and key lock and key lock and key." He sang, I looked to Grell who had given me a soft smile, he mouthed " I'll be back later." before he slipped away from the window and disappeared.
The door opened and I felt myself being tugged forward. Drocell's face was emotionless as usual and yet in his eyes there was something different. Anger perhaps, envy, jealousy. I wasn't used to reading anything in his eyes, they were normally expressionless.
He pulled the strings so that I was hovering off the floor directly in front of his face. He cocked his head to the side. A click echoed, breaking the silence in the room before he leaned to my lips and kissed me. "My fair lady." he said in his deep singing voice as he pulled away. I was disgusted.
I was set down soon after and from out behind him he pulled a slice of bread and a small pitcher of water.
"Gina, you have a mission." He said pulling on the strings at my hands so I wouldn't be able to move to get my food. It was clear that I had to accept or else I wouldn't get to eat. The strings loosened once I scrunched my nose in pain.
Drocell took off his hat and a file folder lay atop his head. He took it off before sliding it towards me. In bright bold letters it spelled out Ceil Phantomhive.
"Silver and gold will be stolen away, stolen away, stolen away, sliver and gold will be stolen away my fair lady." He sang. It was clear what I had to do. He was sending me into the watchdog's lair so that I could taken his gold, jewels, anything worth of value.
It was a kind of job that only a fool would run, and one that Drocell would enjoy watching. Being his favourite didn't mean that he would treat me with care as my 'brother's and sisters' in crime thought. Being his favourite meant that I did the dangerous, life risking jobs. It meant that I was tourtured for his own pleasure. It meant that they only way I could escape him was death.
I was his obsession, and he loved to see me in pain. If I went through with the job it was certain that would be the outcome. If I didn't I'd die before I had a chance to burn this place to the ground.
Picking up the nursery rhyme book I had been reading I smiled before reaching for the bread and water.
"Drocell's castle will fall down, will fall down, will fall down, Drocell's castle will fall down. Drocell will burn with it." I sang before I began to laugh.
There was no guarantee that I would come back the mission unharmed, I could be dead since it wasn't a regular aristocrat. It was the Queen's watchdog, he was a threat who had a great power behind him. A demon perhaps? Either way I would have to set fire to the castle as soon as I left. Drocell hadn't given me a mission for a year or so, and I might never get the chance again.
"So shall I bust you out?" Grell asked as he came back from his reaper duties. It was nighttime now, and Grell's green eyes glowed in the darkness. His red hair seemed to emit a light of some sort.
"No, you can bring me back some matches in the morning. I have a mission that involves the Phantomhive's."
Grell squealed with joy. "The Phantomhive's! You'll get to see Sebas-chan! He's that brat of a lord's butler. Don't fall for him though, he's quite dashing and I would hate to have to kill you for his affection." Grell's voice was dead serious. I rolled my eyes at his comment. "But what are the matches for?" He asked and I smiled.
"What else? This will be my escape Grell. I'll go for the mission just to amuse Drocell. This will be my last one though. I'll be free, and with the matches you bring me this place will burn to the ground."
"Ah it's fun having an arsonist for a friend." I could just picture his devilish grin. If all went well, I would never have to be caged again.
