I woke up to the pounding of feet outside my room that I share with two other people from my group home. I was the last one up, as always. Tara and Juan, my roommates, both had morning jobs but knowing Tara she was probably fucking Robbie in the bathroom. I shuddered at the memory of that when I accidentally walked in on them last week. I mean who doesn't lock the fucking door?
"Tommy get your ass down here right now!" Lin my foster mother yelled, if you could even call her a foster mom. I mean sure she feeds us but we have find are own transportation, get are own clothing and be home for inspection. In fact that's the only reason I was there usually I sleep on the streets or don't sleep at all. In fact the streets are probably safer than this shit whole.
"Tommy!" Lin called again snapping me out of my daze. I slowly got out of bed purposely making her wait. When I got down stairs the first thing I did was yell at her.
"How many times do I have to tell you Lin my names not Tommy it's Tamsin!" I've been living in this place for almost 7 years now you'd think she could at least try to accept the fact that I'm transitioning. When I rounded the corner I instantly regretted everything I'd just done. Lin was livid. When she saw me the first thing she did was slap me across the face.
"I told you I will not be having freaks in my home. If I hear you bring up this lie you tell yourself one more time I will put you back on the streets. Your a boy Tommy!" She practically screamed. I just stared back at her with this defiant look on my face which earned me another slap in the face.
"You will acknowledged me when I am speaking to you!" She said in a stern voice. "Do you understand me?"
"Yes ma'am" I replied dryly
"Good because I have someone I'd like you to meet." She then led me into the disaster area that was are family room. On the couch sat two middle age men. They looked at me with these overly happy faces that only had one thing shown on them, pitty. I hated when people gave me that look. Like I'm some pour helpless transgender.
"These two people are Mr Sam Greer and Mr James Greer." Lin said in a dry tone. The one that she said was Sam had on a plad shirt with cargo pants. He seemed to be really nervous about something. And the other one James or whatever had on a suit. His face showed no emotion, it was a face I knew all to well. It was the face I saw in the mirror every day. The face I imagined I had on now. I realized they were waiting for me to say something so I just said
"Okay, so?" I said deliberately sounding board. Lin ignored my comment and motioned for James to introduce himself.
"Hello Tamsin" he said. I immediately looked up shocked that he called me Tamsin and not Tommy like everyone else. He smiled at me a winked.
"My husband and I work at a school for fine arts. We live in a small house just off the coast of Florida." Florida! Why the hell are these people all the way in London for? And to see me they live in the fucking states for God's sake.
"Your probably wondering why were here" he said in a laugh as he saw the confused expression on my face. "We go on vacations like this all the time but this time were here for a reason. We're here to adopted." Okay now I was really confused this guy is telling me about there whole fucking life and shit and how they want to adopted?
"That's cool and all but what do you want with me?" I asked still not really knowing were this conversation was going. He and his husband both smiled then and said with a laugh,
"We want to adopted you!"
