Scarlett's POV
Previously:
"Sweet dreams," Harry whispered, but only after he had tucked a locke of hair covering my cheek back behind my ear. My hands were clammy and shaking, and a knot was forming in my stomach. I didn't reply, trying desperately to forget about him and just fall asleep.
But of course, that never happened. Instead, my thoughts drifted to Harry, instead of away, and questions immediately arose in my mind.
Who is the person I remind him of?
Then I fell asleep for the second time that night in the arms of a monster.

I awoke to the sun shining brightly through the black curtains, softly caressing my face with its warmth. My eyes fluttered a bit to get used to the light, and I sat up while rubbing them, the covers falling away slightly. Once adjusted, I sighed contently at the sight before me. The sun was just barely poking its head over the mountain tops on the horizon. Red and yellow rays were covering everything with their pale light, blending together a beautiful collage of colors.
I hardly ever got to see the sunrise when I was with the Rebellion. Well, the sun in general. Only when it was my turn to hunt for food did I actually go out, and that was only once a week. We took turns to balance who would have to go outside, but the choices were limited considering not everyone knew how to hunt, and even fewer people who could actually do it well.
I bit my lip thinking about the Rebellion: my life before all of this started. Everyone probably assumed Ashton and I were dead. I sighed once again as I leaned my head back against the headboard. Blinking back tears, I tried to control my breathing. Once I was sure my eyes were dry and my breathing was steady, I finally took notice of Harry's absence. Not that I minded, but it was peculiar he wasn't with me, considering I did try and escape once.
I slowly slid my legs over the side of the bed, looking around for a bathroom. I was in desperate need of a shower. My eyes finally landed on the boldly painted red room, and I gave a small smile. At least there was one good thing about living in the Vampire Palace: big bathrooms. I quickly got up and made my way over to it, only to be shocked once more when I saw the inside.
The bathroom was even bigger than I had originally thought; its shower could easily hold twenty people inside it, and double for the bath.
I was just staring in awe at the magnificent sight—the only bathrooms my camp had were only barely functioning—when a strong pair of arms wrapped themselves around my waist from behind. I gasped in surprise, whirling around in the person's grip to face whomever it was.
Sparkling green eyes pinned me to the spot.
Of course it was Harry, who else would it be?
I didn't know who I was expecting, but unfortunately, I was met with Harry's smirking face as he stared down at me, and I up at him.
"I didn't think you would be up so early. Sorry I wasn't there when you woke." His smirk widened and his eyes shimmered with delight as he spoke. I tried my best not to gawk at him. He thinks that if he just pretends nothing happened with Ashton yesterday, then I'll be his happy, little blood slave and follow all his rules? Well, he had another thing coming . . .
I smiled sweetly up at him. "Oh no, trust me, I did not mind a bit. You could have died for all I care, and I wouldn't have batted an eyelash."
Harry simply raised his eyebrows at me. "Someone's feisty this morning," he noted.
