Danielle’s POV

I waited by the gate after college and every student that walked past me stared at me. I considered that they were judging me but I soon ignored it all when I saw Benji walking up the path towards me. He grinned at me and skipped past everyone, making me laugh but making them stare. “Hello cutie.” He stopped in front of me staring into my eyes. “I’m not cute Benji.”

“Yes you are.” I smiled whilst blushing. “Come on let’s drop your stuff off first and then head to mine. Maybe you can introduce me to your dad if he’s in?” We started walking up the road. “He doesn’t get home till later and you won’t want to meet my mum of course.” He nodded. “I know. I understand that whole situation.” We walked along in silence. “So, you lived here in Bedworth all your life?” I shook my head. “I was born up North first and then when I was around six years old we moved here but without my original dad.”

“Oh, why?”

“He left my mum and me on Christmas day. It’s a long story. He moved to New York and my mum’s new fiancé drove us down here when we moved and he’s been my dad ever since.”

“I’m sorry about that.”

“It’s okay.” I looked over at him as he scrolled through Twitter on his phone. I found myself staring at him and then he looked over. I suddenly looked away. “Were you just checking me out?” I looked back. “Huh?”

“I said, were you just checking me out?” I looked him right in the eyes as we carried on walking up the road to my house. “Uh, no?” I looked away, feeling my cheeks turn bright red as they burned my face, making me hot and flustered. My stomach tingled with butterflies and I cursed what these feelings were. I’d never properly felt them before.

We arrived at my door and told Benji to wait outside while I walked in and shut the door behind me. Yet again my drunken mother was asleep on the sofa and I sighed, making my way past her slowly. I walked up the stairs quickly, making sure not to trip up and ran to the window. I looked out, seeing Benji sat on the wall outside swinging his legs back and forth. He was so cute. I remembered I needed to drop my stuff off and take anything I needed. I decided to get into a change of clothes and ran to my wardrobe, pulling out an All Time Low t-shirt and some black skinny jeans. I slipped them on and pulled the shirt over my head. I decided to wear my combat boots and laced them up before checking my hair in the mirror. Then I noticed my You Me At Six Final Night Of Sin DVD. I took out my phone and quickly text Benji.

Do you like You Me At Six? I have their Final Night Of Sin DVD if you don’t have it and want to watch it after we finish watching All Time Low’s later?

I sent it and looked out of the window as he pulled out his phone. I could see him smiling as he text back and then my phone vibrated.

Yeah I love them and yeah that’d be great, bring it along! x

He sent a kiss to me. A kiss. I shook my head and grabbed the DVD and emptied my bag of its college contents before putting it in my bag. I checked I had everything before closing my curtains because I didn’t know what time I’d be back home and ran downstairs before slowly closing the front door of my house behind me. Benji turned around and grinned at me and got up from the wall. “Let’s go then!” I giggled as we ventured down the road to Benji’s house.

It took us about 10 minutes to reach his house and by that time my legs were about to give way. “I haven’t done that much walking in a day for a long time.” I tried to get my breath back as he fiddled for his keys in his bag. “Lazy shit.”
