Tyler

"Should we head home?" I questioned. Ashley sighed and hopped down from the hood of the car.

"I don't want to but the others are probably worrying about us" she responded.

Nodding, I hopped down and got into the drivers seat. I started the car as soon as she got in and backed out of the small meadow.

"So where were you last night?" I asked once we made it back onto the road.

"Miranda wouldn't let me stay. She was with her new boyfriend" Ashley rolled her eyes.

"Calum Hood" I mocked a British accent.

"Yeah him" She muttered.

"Why does this bother you so much?" I chuckled lightly.

"It doesn't" Ashley crossed my arms and shrunk down in her seat.

"Well something is bothering you" I went on to say.

"It's just- its- it's nothing" She stuttered.

"You can tell me Ashley" I smiled.

"This week has been two years since my parents died" Ashley finally said.

Ashley, when she was 15, had been kidnapped along with her brother and parents. They held them captive for a week before they tied Ashley and Nick up and brought them in a room. They had their parents also tied up with guns against their heads. In the end Ashley and Nick watched their parents die. It was a terrible thing that still affected them to this day. And the worst part was that none of us knew how to help them.

I silently reached over and placed my hand on her shoulder as she stared out the window.

We stayed silent until we reached our town again. As soon as Ashley spotted Nick walking down the street she pulled on the door handle. I unlocked the door for her to get out.

"Thanks Tyler" she said before she slammed the door shut.

Ashley

"Nick" I called, catching up to him. At the sound of my voice, he spun around and smiled when he saw me.

"Where have you been? He questioned.

"Hung out with Tyler for a while" I shrugged.

"Come on" he whispered. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and led me down an alley way. Nick and I spent most nights sleeping against boxes and crates down different alley ways since we couldn't afford our house anymore.

Michael

"What was that?" Luke questioned.

"I don't know Luke but we don't have time to check it out" I responded. "We have to find whoever tried to break in"

I froze when I heard multiple gun shots followed by a scream.

"Now do you want to check it out?" Luke asked with raised eyebrows.

"No. We aren't getting into any shootings" I responded immediately.

"But what if it's someone we know?" He shot back.

"Like who?"

"It could be Ashley" he stated.

That made me stop and think for a moment. Was I really willing to risk our lives for a girl I just met?

"We need to help whoever it is" Calum said.

Before I could say anything else they were both walking away from me. I groaned but followed. I wouldn't let them do this alone.

The gun shots stopped as soon as I shot a bullet into the sky. The only people left was a boy I vaguely remembered from Calum introducing us and Ashley.

I immediately went over to Ashley and fell on my knees next to her. "Ashley" I whispered, brushing my fingers across her cheek.

I felt the other three boys around me. The other boy was fine. Just a few bruises. But Ashley had been shot in two places.

"She's loosing too much blood" I said. I tore my flannel off and tied it above one of the gun shot wounds. Calum used his belt above the other wound.

"Hospital?"

I nodded at the boy and lifted Ashley up. Her blood soaked through my shirt but at the moment I didn't care. My heart ached at the thought of loosing her but I didn't know why. I haven't even spent a day with this girl.
