"I'm not going if he's going."

You turned to face the muttering Uchiha with just as much sass.

"Now you sound just as childish as Naruto," you said with a shrug.

Sasuke growled- he reminded you then of Kiba.

"Every year I get invited to these stupid things, when I could be taking advantage of my time by training." He said.

"There's more to life than training," you replied as you kept walking, "and besides- it's Christmas. Winter. Everyone deserves a break, even scrooges like you."

You flicked him on the forehead. Your eyes lit up with amusement. His lit up with rage. If looks could kill...

"I'll go to your stupid thing if it'll get you to shut up." He snapped.

A fake look of hurt swept over your features but was instantly replaced by your grin. Your eyes crinkled in a smile.

"Great! See you then!"

You left before Sasuke could change his mind. And you were afraid if you waited any longer, you'd back out of this whole thing. After all, it wasn't every day you threw a Christmas party for the people you fight with on the daily. You had to make a good impression. All of your friends, your comrades... were so... different. Most of the invites were through word of mouth. But a few invites were to your friends from different villages. You hoped Gaara had recieved his invite by now. It wasn't like him to be so late.

While getting the invitations out that required a bit more effort, you could finally spread the word around the village itself. There were a few more people you had to find before the weekend's party.

It didn't take long for you, or anyone for that matter, to come across the Leaf's number one knuckle headed ninja. Naruto was at Ichiraku's, on what you could only assume to be his millionth bowl of ramen. He enthusiastically invited you to join him. You did, even though he owed you money from last time. When you finished explaining the party and how much fun it was going to be, Naruto finished slurping a particularly long noodle and squinted at you.

"I'm not going if he's going."

You were ready to flip tables.

"NARUTO, who cares if Sasuke's going. I thought you two were getting along?"

From the way Naruto was crossing his arms, you could tell this was not the case. You had to think for a second- you could offer to buy Naruto another bowl- but you had no money on you. Plus the jerk owed you money from last time. It took two seconds to hit you but once it did, you knew what to say.

"Well, you don't have to go if you don't want to," you said with a shrug. "But Sakura's going to be pretty disappointed."

"Sakura's going to be there?"

"That's right," you nodded. "But at least she'll have Sasuke to keep her company all night..."

"OKAY I'LL GO." Shrieked Naruto.

And with that, you set out to talk to the last few people. You stumbled upon Rock Lee doing what looked like very intense push-ups, near Kiba sitting with Akamaru playing checkers with Shikamaru. For some reason, it felt vaguely familiar. But who plays checkers?

You weren't surprised to get all very different responses from your friends. Different responses with the same results. Kiba didn't take long to decide, he had been training hard up until your brief winter holiday. And if you knew Kiba, you knew he'd be fun at the party.

Shikamaru was a bit harder to convince.

"Parties are great and all, but so is sleep." He said with no expression whatsoever. You'd barely said anything and it was already like an interrogation.
