Something about the copy cat ninja demanded your attention. Being his student over the past two years has done nothing to dilute your feelings for him- as wrong as it was.
Being on a mission, setting up fire after a heated battle... sitting with Kakashi, your cheeks red as the flames when he took his shirt off so you could heal his wounds...
"Why are you hesitating?" He asked in a hushed voice.
"I'm- I'm not hesitating..." You said quickly, caressing the injury across his back, healing it all the while.
Or that time you were out with team seven, late at night, under the same sky, different stars.
"Y/n..." Kakashi's voice caused your eyes to light up. He appeared from behind a tree. "What are you doing still up?"
"I couldn't sleep..." You admitted. "I was... thinking about them again."
Kakashi made his way to you.
"It's alright y/n..." he whispered.
You peered up at his cool, collected eyes. You didn't want him to see you crying but you didn't want to look away. You loved Kakashi even then.
And when he pulled you into his arms, you had never felt safer. You knew you would never stop loving him.
But there were times when you'd seen his cool, collected eyes go red. And you worried, but were never afraid. You brought out the worst in eachother at times... but the best far more.
"Y/n!" Kakashi's voice killed your daydream.
You spun around quick enough to see the kunai skim past the side of your head, and penetrate the trunk of the tree beside you.
"Pay attention." Kakashi sighed. "If you get killed in combat for having your head in the clouds, I'll kill you myself."
You pulled the kunai out of the tree.
"You'd never hurt me," you said to Kakashi.
"A gentleman would never hurt a woman, so, in a manner of speaking, you're right," he said with a smile.
"I beg to differ," you said, disappearing and reappearing behind Kakashi. "I've seen the books you read."
You threw a punch at Kakashi, only for him to catch it in his fist.
"I've seen the books you read." Kakashi replied, taking advantage of your frozen stance. "And I don't think you want a gentleman."
You threw a punch with your other hand but Kakashi caught this one as well. He held you with his stare more than anything and leaned close.
"Trying not to blush will only make you blush harder," he said with a grin that reached his eyes.
You kicked his feet from under him, and landed on top of him, pinning him down by the wrists. Kakashi was not expecting it. He either raised his eyebrows in shock, or admiration. Or maybe it was a winning combination of both.
"You don't know what I want." You told him angrily. He chuckled.
"Then what do you want?" Kakashi asked.
"Like I'd ever tell you." You snapped, trying not to grin.
You let out a shriek as Kakashi took advantage of his long legs and wrapped them around you to flip you over so that he was on top and the roles were reversed.
Kakashi leaned forwards. It was impossible to ignore his familiar, earthy scent.
After studying your wide eyes for a few moments in some sort of unspoken staredown, he leaned away.
