Chapter Twenty Waiting For You<3 A Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson Love Story

Chapter 20

This was supposed to be a fun night, instead now I was getting dressed, preparing for something that could make or break Cody's career. Greyson stands there in the doorway, my discomfort obvious to him. I could never hide anything from him or Cody.

Slowly, Greyson comes up and stands directly behind me with his hand on my shoulder. Just the touch is comforting. I feel a silent tear slide down my cheek. I hated that about me. Now I would cry at every little thing. What Cody was about to do would take every bit of strength I had. Toughening up was the only decision.

Looking at my outfit in the mirror, I am surprised the figure standing there is me. The red and elegant dress flows to her feet. The silver shoes that adorn her feet seem so fragile yet strong. Her dark hair is curled in petite ringlets and no makeup clouds her face. The girl is strong, and has a flawless stature. Little does everyone know that she is broken on the inside.

"You look beautiful Shelb." Greyson states wearing a black suit. Underneath the suit is a maroon dress shirt. It's the nicest I've ever seen him dress. 

"Thanks, but I don't think looking pretty will fix all this."

 Grey grabs my hand reassuringly. "Maybe not, but it always helps." I giggle. Count on Grey for lightening the mood. I hug Grey's neck. 

"Thank you for being here for me Greyson."

 He wraps his arm around my waist and holds me there. "What are friends for?" He asks, his catchphrase.

Smiling, I pick up Michaela, awaking her from her peaceful slumber. She yawns and blinks several times before I can finally see her bright green eyes. Instantly, she smiles. As I walk out the door I am greeted by the sound of paparazzi. This is what I dwell on. My baby girl's smile.

Cody and Angie stand at the door of the hotel lobby awaiting us. As soon as I see him I hand Greyson the baby, he happily accepts, and run into Cody's arms. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." I repeat over and over again. Cody just whispers soothing words into my ear and holds me against him.

 "Don't ever be sorry for coming. Something good will come out of this." He pulls away and looks me in the eyes, "No matter what happens Shelby, promise me you'll stay with me, even if it means the end of my career." Nodding, I promise to him my loyalty.

Gently, he kisses me and I savor it. When we do pull away I notice he is crying. This is the first time I have ever seen him cry. This time I am the one to wipe away his tears. "Why are you crying?" I ask. 

He holds back his tears and answers, "I know how paparazzi and my fans can be towards my girlfriends, I just don't want them to hurt you." I understand instantly. The paparazzi could make you or break you. Let's just hope what we were about to do was for the better.

As soon as we arrive at our destination, the car is swarmed by the paps. Cody wraps his arm around me and I hold Michaela in my arms. "You ready?" Cody questions. I look back at the most serious Greyson I have ever seen then I turn to Angie. You can tell she's on pins and needles. 

"Yeah, I'm ready." I state.

Cody opens the door and helps me out of the car. Dozens of lights flash around me. It's necessary for the celebrities to take interviews. Apparently, it's in their contract. I didn't understand it. As many magazine companies call all three of us out by name, my stomach churns.

We first go up to Popstar magazine. A girl that Cody apparently knows is standing there. "Hey Cody" she says. "I'm so sorry I have to do this but it's my job." He only nods. She begins her interrogation. "So are you and Shelby dating?"

"Yes we are, and I couldn't be happier." He smiles at this. It's amazing how his smile seems to light up my world.

"And is that baby," she began pointing to Michaela, "Yours." Cody inhales deeply. "No, Kayla is not mine but she might as well be. I love them both more than anything. But no I am not the baby's father." The woman writes down everything utterly quick.

 "Then explain the reason of the baby. If she isn't yours or Greysons who's is she?" 

Cody looks at me and this is what I was afraid of. Imperceptibly I shake my head and begin speaking, "You see, last year I was," Suddenly a security guard sweeps Cody, Greyson, and I away to behind stage. Apparently he was getting ready to perform.

They do sound check and the whole time I'm shaking. I didn't even tell them the whole story and I was shaken up. How would I be able to do this in the interview tonight? Sitting down I rock Kayla back and forth. She was already getting antsy and we still had to do the concert. Tonight would be crazy.

At about eight-thirty Cody goes onstage. I see why he is as famous as he is. Besides his perfect personality, smile, and looks, he has a flawless voice and stage presence. Regardless of the whole baby thing, his Angels are still supportive. I can't help but smile at this somewhat settling thought.

Around an hour into the concert he stops. "Alright guys, I really need to bring out someone for you guys to meet. Actually there are two someone's. As you all know I had to quit my last tour because of certain private reasons and these girls are the reason why. So here is my girlfriend Shelby."

What? Suddenly, Greyson leads me on stage. "Don't worry Shelbs this is going to turn out for the better." What was that supposed to mean? Bright lights hit me when I plod onto the stage. I hear comments like, "Oh she's beautiful." "That little tramp." and other things. I choose to ignore it.

Walking out to Cody he grabs Michaela then takes my hand. "This is my beautiful girlfriend. And this adorable thing is Michaela. I know you guys have heard on MTV about this baby being mine. And she isn't." That's when several screams escape the crowd. Over them all you hear one girl with curly red hair, "Then whose is it?"

I look at Cody and he nods. "Last year, I made a mistake. I left Shelby whenever things got tough. It hurt both of us so bad so one night she went out to see her brother. On her way there four men attacked her and... Took advantage of her." The entire stadium, including the rows holding Josh Hutcherson, Bella Thorne, and all the other celebrities goes silent.

"So that's how we got this beautiful baby girl right here. Greyson and I have decided to help Shelby take care of this baby. We both love Kayla and Shelby. Shelby and my baby girl mean the world to me. And that's why I asked Shelby to come for my birthday tomorrow. But that wasn't the real reason I wanted her to come. For the past year and a half have been the best of my life and I realized something." He turns to me and a man comes up and grabs Kayla. He immediately hands her to Greyson behind the stage.

"I've spent the past several months helping take care of you and Michaela. And I realized I love both of you so much. I want to spend the rest of my life with both of you. And I know I'm seventeen and youre only fifteen but,"

He pulls a ring out of his pocket. It's golden and has at least a two karat diamond in it. My hands fly to my mouth. "Shelby Marie Cosway, will you marry me? I promise I will spend my whole life taking care of you and-" I cut him off and kiss him full on the lips. The crowd erupts into Awwws.

 "Of course I will." he smiles widely and he grabs my hand. 

"I love you." he says. 

"I love you more." I inform him. 

"I seriously doubt it." He smirks then kisses me, his fiancé.
