Chapter 5

(Kageyama's P.O.V)

"Tobio....H-He's awake." My heart stopped. I drop my glass of milk on the floor and start running, as fast as my legs could take me. I had to get there. I hung up so fast I didn't get to ask if he was okay. I guess I'll have to see for myself.

I can feel my chest burning and can hear the thumping of my heart. I keep on running even though I'm out of breath. I run into the hospital and stop at the reception desk. "I'm here to see Hinata Shouyou. " I say quickly.

She flips through her clipboard "Room 104. " She says. " Thank you !" I say as I run into one of the elevators. When the elevator opens I run down looking for room 104, counting each room as I go along. As I was putting my hand on the door knob, the door bursts open and doctors are pushing Hinata out of the door. I get pushed out of their way. I see Hinata.

He looks at me with fear in his eyes and stretches out his arm. I reach out for him too, as the doctors push him down the hall away from me in a stretcher. Mrs.Hinata comes out and hugs me, "He'll be okay" She says more to herself than to me. She keeps repeating that he'll be okay. My thought begin to scramble. Is he okay?

I lead Hinata's mom to a seat inside Hinata's room. "He just woke up.. It's like they're taking him from me again." she says. "What happened when he woke up?" I asked, wanting to know every detail. "I was with him and then I looked down at him and he was looking around frantically. That's when I called you and pressed the button to call the doctor. But then he started choking, and I didn't know how to help him. I felt so useless." She says.

"You weren't useless, you were there for him and that's all that matters." I say. "Thank you Tobio." She says and then stands up, "I'm going to go to the bathroom. " She says. I nod and she leaves. I pull my phone out of my pocket and open the volleyball group chat.

Kageyama:
Hey guys good news and bad news.

Sugamommy😂😂:
I won't even change my name this time.. What's the news?

AsahiIsJesus😰:
Is it about Hinata? I'm not Jesus. My name is a lie.

Give us the good news first. Nishinoya.. I know where you live. Stop changing everyone's names.

Wow. That gave me chills. Have you ever thought of being an actor Daichi? You should be the villian, everyone would have goosebumbs!

Kageyama:
Good news, Hinata woke up.

TanaCrap😆:
Daichi pick me up too.

DaddyDaichi😡:
I'm coming for all of you.

TanaCrap😆:
That gave me chills and it wasn't supposed to be mean. Daichi good luck in your acting career.

What's the bad news?

Kageyama:
I don't know if he's okay.. The doctors took him away.

DaddyDaichi😡:
Suga, I'm outside.

I put my phone away and start playing with my fingers. Please be okay dumbass. You're making everyone worried.

(Daichi's P.O.V)

I race down the road and run into Coach Ukai's store. "Coach, we need you and your car!" I yell. "Daichi, what's the problem?" he says frantically. "Shouyou is awake! We need to go to the hospital!" I respond. Coach Ukai grabs his keys and locks up his store. "Let's go" He says grinning.

We get into his car and I check my phone and Tanaka says to pick him up. "Can we pick up the others?" I ask. "Of course." Coach Ukai says as he starts the car.

(Kageyama's P.O.V)

After fifteen minutes Coach Ukai and the team show up. We all sit down in Hinata's room waiting for him. I'm both excited and nervous. The door flies open and Hinata is rolled in. I didn't notice earlier but he's super skinny. Hinata's mom walks in after him.

He's awake but he's hardly moving. It looks like he's sleeping with his eyes open. There is no happy mood that usually follows Hinata. He looks like an empty shell of the person he was before. "Hello Hinata." Sugawara says shakily. He stares at him then whispers "...h-he..llo.."

The doctor walks in with a clipboard. "Alright.. I'm going to ask you a few yes or no questions. " The doctor proceeds to ask Hinata questions. "Does anything hurt ? " Hinata just stares at him. The doctor takes note. "Can you point to where hurts?" Hinata looks down at the bed that he's on. "Okay.." The doctor says and scribbles it down on his paper. "Do you remember everything? " he asks. Hinata looks around at all of us. "Hmm. I'll come back later and ask more questions." The doctor says, clutching his clipboard to the side. Hinata still stares at us as the doctor leaves.

Before he leaves he turns and says "He might not want to talk for a while" we nod and he leaves. "Hinata, are you okay?" Sugawara asks. Hinata begins to pull on the tubes attached to his hands. "Hinata, don't touch that." Mrs.Hinata says and Hinata jumps. I can feel that I'm lightly shaking but I can't stop. I can't believe he's awake, it feels like a dream.

"Why won't you talk?" Nishinoya asks.  "Well, he did talk earlier." Sugawara points out. "You're right, so why didn't he answer any of the questions?" Tanaka asks. "Please don't talk like he isn't here." Mrs.Hinata says kindly. "Sorry" Tanaka says rubbing the back of his neck. Mrs.Hinata smiles sweetly. I look over at Hinata and he's looking at me.

"What do you want?" I ask. Daichi elbows me in my side. "Watch your tone." He says. I look back over at Hinata and he has this wanting in his eyes that makes me walk to him. I stoop down to be closer to him. Now that I have a better look at him I see how skinny he is and he's shaking slightly. I allow him to pull my ear close to his lips. "..Kage..Yama?" he whispers. "Yes?" I ask. "..It hurts." he replies. My eyes widen.

"What hurts?" I ask, grabbing everyone's attention. He doesn't reply. "How bad does it hurt?" I ask. Nothing again. I grab onto his shirt to get his attention. "Come on Hinata, answer me!" I yell. Tanaka rushes over and pulls me off of Hinata. "We waited so long Hinata! I know you can talk so why won't you!?" I yell. I can feel tears stinging in the corners of my eyes.

I can't let myself cry yet though. He hasn't won. "You still have nothing to say, huh. You're so stupid, how do you even get into a coma by falling? H-" I get cut of by Daichi, "Kageyama, That's enough!" he yells, silencing me. I sit, defeated, next to Mrs.Hinata. I just need him to talk to me. "He said something hurts." I say to Mrs.Hinata. "I wonder what's wrong." she says. Me too.
