Chapter 3

(Kageyama's P.O.V)

I sat on a chair facing Hinata. Mrs.Hinata and Natsu went to the bathroom. I started to dose off and then the door flew open. Kuroo storms in with a teary-eyed Kenma following close by

I lean forward in my seat. "No way. Daichi wasn't kidding." Kuroo says. "You think Daichi would joke about this?" I ask. Kuroo and Kenma jump. "Oh, Tobio, you're here." Kuroo says. My eyes follow Kenma as he shuffles over to Hinata. "I don't understand." Kenma says.

Kuroo jerks his head towards Kenma. "One minute we were playing and the other Hinata is in an ambulance on his way to the hospital. " Sniffles can be heard coming from Kenma. Kuroo pulls Kenma into a hug. I look up at the ceiling to stop tears from escaping my eyes.

"It's not fair!" Kenma shrieks. "Shh, it's okay." Kuroo says. I get up and walk over to Hinata. "Dumbass.. Please wake up." I beg. "Please!" I couldn't hold back my tears anymore. Kuroo turns to me and mumbles "Kageyama." I stand there as my tears fall next to Hinata.

Mr.s Hinata walks into the room and freezes. She walks over to me and embraces me in a warm hug. I sob as she rubs my back. After a while I regain myself, more or less, and sit next to Kuroo and Kenma.

Natsu stayed with a friend so she wasn't at the hospital today. Mrs.Hinata goes to Hinata and starts talking to him like how the doctor told us to do. "Hello Shouyou. How's my little sunshine doing? I came to visit you today. " She pauses for a while then smiles.

"I love you." she whispers. She sits down right next to Hinata's bed after a while. She plays with his hair and hums. Daichi and Sugawara walk into the room and greet everyone. They sit down after telling Hinata a brief hello.  All of us sits in silence, listening to Mrs.Hinata's soft humming.

The doctor that was in here earlier walks in with a nurse. Hinata's room wasn't that big and quickly became crowded. I leave to give the doctor more room. I go to the cafeteria in the hospital. I buy a sandwich and chocolate milk. I sit down at an empty table and listen in at the conversation taking place at the table next to mine.

At first they talked about other patients and then they mention a name I know. "Did you hear about the new patient, uhm Hinata Shouyou I believe was his name. " says one of the doctors. "Yeah, he's the young boy that's in a coma right?" says another doctor. "Yeah, do you think he'll ever wake up?" asks the first doctor. "It's possible but I don't think it's likely."

My heart drops. Possible but not likely. Not likely? I squeeze the box of chocolate milk in my hand tightly. They're wrong, they have to be! I throw away my food and walk back to Hinata's room. Those doctors disgusts me. The doctor is still in the room, he's running regular tests on him, but the nurse is gone. I look around the room and realize that everyone is standing up. "What's wrong?" I asked.

Mrs.Hinata smiles "Hinata opened one of his eyes." "What?" I ask, not expecting an answer. I look over at Hinata. The doctor turns around "Well, it's a good sign. It shows he's trying to wake up. However, it doesn't exactly mean that he'll wake up sooner. " everyone sighs.

Kuroo and Kenma both stand up. "Sorry to leave this soon, but we have to go. " Kuroo says. "That's fine, thanks for coming. I'm sure Hinata appreciates it." Mr.s Hinata says. Kuroo turns to Hinata " Wake up soon, Shrimp. And Kageyama?" "Yes?" "Take care of yourself." Kenma let's out a soft "good bye." and with that, they left.

Sugawara and Daichi left soon after them. Mrs.Hinata smiled at me. "I'm going home now, let me drop you home." "O-okay thank you" she grabs her stuff and kisses Hinata on his forehead. "Good Night sunshine. We're going home. " she says. "Bye Hinata." I say.

It still feels weird talking to someone who is asleep and doesn't answer. After she drops me home I open the volleyball group chat.

I smile down at the messages. Idiots.

Kageyama:
Not really. He opened his eyes.

Daichi😡:
Guys.. Calm down. It was for about 2 seconds, 3 at most.

Yamaguchi😫:
But still... I think he'll wake up soon.

I turn off my phone and put it to charge. Of course I won't tell them this but, just talking to them brings my spirits up.
