One Ocean Away // Eren

Armin has been gone for a while now, and now Christmas has came around. I couldn't afford to go over to Japan to see him, and neither could his parents. We miss him a lot.
  "Hey, Eren, get in here! We have a surprise!" I hear my mom yell from the kitchen. I quickly walk into the kitchen and see everyone gathered around the kitchen table.
  "What is it?" I ask as I make my way in between my mom and Armins' mom. I see four envelopes, each with our names on them.
  "Grab yours," My mom says, nudging me. She grabs hers as I grab mine and Armins parents grab theirs. We all open ours at the same time and pull out cards. The writing printed on the card is in Japanese, but what Armin wrote is in English.
  I bet you guys miss me, am I right? I hope you guys can last until I get back. :) I really miss you. I wish I could be home for Christmas. I hope I can make up for the next few years when I get back.

  I smile. Short, but meaningful.
  "Happy with yours?" My mom asks. I nod.
  "I hope ours got to him."

"Armin, some mail just came in for you," One of my friends from school yells. I walk over to where he's standing, and see an envelope with my name on it. I grab it and starts to open it.
  HOPE YOURE ENJOYING JAPAN ARMIN. WE REALLY MISS YOU. CHRISTMAS IS KIND OF LONELY WITHOUT YOU. I HOPE YOU CAN COME HOME AND VISIT SOON.
  I HOPE YOUR CHRISTMAS WAS GREAT. LOVE YOU. ♥︎

  I chuckle at his writing. All caps. I smile and close the card.
  "You're smiling like a maniac, did your girlfriend send you something?" My friend chuckles.
  "I guess you could say that," I say, and smile down at the card in my hands.
  I miss you too, Eren.
