I was looking at an album I had made, showing Isla's and I's friendship over the years which I'd been meaning to give her as a present when Tracer came in.
"Are you alright love? You didn't come for supper, I brought you something." She held a bowl of steaming, beef noodles. "Something warm to keep your heart warm, and not cold in this wintry weather." Tracer joked, setting the tray down.
It was winter, and very cold. I had already caught a flu, causing me to be even more depressed than I would have been if I wasn't sick. The weather forced me to wear a thick, black hoodie whenever I went out with my normal, everyday clothes on, and a black cat sweater inside with thick pants.
"Thanks." I sniffled.
"It's been a month already, surely you should be feeling better about her?" Tracer looked at the album I was holding.
"She was my closest friend, I can't forget about her. She was the best friend I could ever had and I was horrible to her. I made friends with the person who betrayed me in the end... I wish I could go back and say sorry." I whispered, taking the bowl of noodles and starting to gobble it down.
"At least your appetite's as well as ever!" Tracer brightly replied.
"Are you okay Raven?" Genji knocked on the door, holding a cup of my favourite drink at the time, hot tea with a lemon put inside.
"Mm, yeah. I'm fine." I quickly wiped the tear trickling down my cheek.
"Why don't you go back to your gang, Tracer? I'll take care of Raven." Genji told Tracer, causing her to pat me on the shoulder and zip away.
"Thanks for the noodles!" I called after her. "And thanks for the water." I nodded to the cup.
"You're welcome." He put it on my desk. "How are you feeling?"
"Better, not as sick. That water is helping me." I finished the bowl of noodles, wiping my mouth and going for the water.
"That's good... when are you going to stop mourning for Isla?" Genji asked suddenly.
"Don't you see? I can't. I just keep thinking of her and crying!" I wailed.
"You can! She'll always have a place in your heart but you need to move on. Soldier 76 just told me that in a few days Madam Volskaya will need a permanent watch and you are scheduled to be on the watch! You need to be better by then." Genji replied.
I sighed. "I'll try. Thanks Genji." I took a gulp of water. "This tastes a bit different."
"I added cold medicine to it so that you wouldn't have to eat it by itself. Does it still taste okay?" He asked.
"It's fine, just a bit less of a lemony tang but that's alright." I took another gulp.
Genji sat down on my desk chair. "So what are you going to do now?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you are going to want to get revenge on Reaper right?"
I swallowed. "I'd rather not... things are a bit uncomfortable between us right now. He can't get over me. He can't get the fact that I love you instead of him."
"That's good. Revenge never works." Genji shook his head.
"So why does Ms Volskaya need a permanent watch on her?" I asked.
"Talon seems intent on taking her out and taking Russia. Last time they nearly got her. Volskaya has asked for a permanent watch, she hasn't told the authorities about our actions so that means we can trust her." He explained.
"What happens if they take Russia?" I asked, finishing my water.
"Another World War."
"Pleasant. So when are we leaving to protect her?" I asked, getting in to bed to fall asleep.
"In a few days, you should be better by then." Genji held my hand, stroking the back of it with his thumb, lulling me to sleep.
This will be the last book of the Cold series! I hope you like it! Also, I'll need to ask Autumnpips to make the cover again because the covers have been so good! I have to go now, it's getting late. Bye!!!
