Coldest (An Overwatch Fanfiction)

Chapter 3 - News of Rumours

I collapsed to the floor, my adrenaline disappearing. My left leg was broken. Why did I always get the worst injuries? The pain flooded through my leg and I gasped, sweating with pain. I saw Pharah fly up, rescuing me again. She took my gently by the shoulders, pulling me off. I yelped as my leg scraped against the high area I was in. Pharah carefully put me down as Soldier 76, Lucio, D.Va, Genji, Zarya, Zenyatta and Volskaya ran forward.

As Zenyatta started healing my leg, Soldier 76 helped Volskaya calm down before getting back in to her limo. The bodyguards and driver had all been killed in the midst of the fight so Soldier 76 asked Zarya to sit next to Volskaya as he drove. D.Va sat on top of the car, balancing with her sharp eye out. Lucio ran with Zenyatta as Genji and I sprinted ahead, my leg fully healed thanks to Zenyatta. 

We managed to get Volskaya to the Industries without any more hiccups. A few weeks later and I was just stretching in my room when Soldier 76 called an emergency meeting. 

"Darn it, this cuts in to my stretching time." I muttered as I got up, shaking my legs loose before making my way to the main area.

"Genji! What's happening?" I quickly pulled my hair back from my sweaty forehead. It had gotten warmer quickly, so I'd stopped wearing my hoodie and kept to my normal outfit.

"I don't know, we will find out soon." He hugged me quickly before turning toward Soldier 76 who was about to start the meeting.

"Someone has leaked the fact that Overwatch is back in to operation now." He began.

I gasped, frozen with shock. Who could have spread the rumour? Reaper The word flashed in my mind but I pushed the thought away, I needed to know more about this.

"How do you know?" I called out.

Soldier 76 threw the American newspaper down to me. "You tell me."

I quickly unfolded the newspaper, immediately seeing the bold OVERWATCH IN OPERATION - RUMOURS headline. "The source is anonymous..." I muttered, thinking to myself.

"Do you have any idea who it is?" Soldier 76 asked.

"There's Madam Volskaya but-" I began.

"She would never do such a thing!" Zarya interrupted me.

"That's what I was going to say. There is one more suspect... but I'm not sure." I narrowed my eyes.

"You have to be sure. Just keep on the lookout everybody. Dismissed." Soldier 76 waved all of us away.

"Do you want to come and train with us?" Genji poked me and gestured to D.Va, Roadhog, Mei, and Symmetra.

"3v3?" I asked, smiling. That was his favourite thing to do nowadays.

"You know me too well." Genji replied, amused. "Yes, all our weapons will be set on stun not kill."

"Okay." I nodded, following them.

"Our team splits up, Roadhog and I will go with Night, you, D.Va and Mei will go to the opposite team." Genji nodded to Symmetra.

She nodded before heading straight to their spawn room. We went and the doors closed, meaning that both teams were all in their spawn.

"5, 4, 3..." Athena's voice could be heard over the speakers.

"Good luck guys, remember to stay together." I stared meaningfully at Genji.

He rolled his eyes good-naturally before the doors opened, sending a blast of cold air. Outside it was covered in snow, copying the landscape of Ecopoint: Antarctica. I nervously crept out, unsheathing my claws. Roadhog led us up to the right snow-covered ramp and walked down the corridor it led to. I turned invisible, looking around to see where everyone was. 

I saw D.Va and Mei wandering the bottom together which meant that Symmetra was-Ouch! She had placed turrets above the doorway we were standing near and I crept too far. They shot out, catching me in the shoulder causing it to go numb. I fell back, clutching my shoulder as Symmetra appeared from around the corner. Her eyes widened as she saw all three of us standing there. I hissed as Genji whipped out his knife, the blue stun liquid draped all over it. He wiped some of the liquid on to Symmetra before she could react, causing her to fall over, unconscious as the liquid seeped in to her skin. 

"Enemy eliminated." Athena's voice sounded over our earpieces.

Roadhog nodded at me to go and scout ahead for D.Va and Mei. I turned invisible, running quickly until I found them. They were staying together, looking around warily for us as they checked our spawn room. I ran back and told the others. We went to the door that led to a corridor which led to our spawn room. We were pretty sure that they would go through it. Genji and I quietly crept up behind them. I waved my tail right before I disappeared around the corner to Roadhog so that he knew to block them off. Genji and I rounded the corner and saw Roadhog standing there, laughing as D.Va and Mei panicked. Mei walled Roadhog off, intending to go back but found her way blocked by Genji and me. The wall broke down. Roadhog started shooting at D.Va as she turned around. She put her shield up, leaving Mei to Genji and I. She froze Genji easily, because there was no room for him to zip around. He got knocked out as I leaped at her.

"Teammate eliminated." 

My claws missed her face by an inch as Mei ran out from the corridor with me chasing after her. I caught up to her easily, about to sink my claws in to her arm before she turned in to an ice block, healing up. The moment she un-froze I swung my leg, catching her in the back and making her fall over. I took a stun dart as she struggled and threw it down to the back of her neck. One down, one to go.

"Enemy eliminated."

I saw D.Va run past me, out of her mech shooting at Roadhog. I tried to stun her the same way I did with Mei but she hooked her arm around my neck, putting her gun to my head and holding me in front of her. Roadhog froze, reloading. What was he going to do? I flipped D.Va over, sending her tumbling to Roadhog. She pulled the trigger on my shoulder and I immediately began to feel dizzy. I vaguely heard the words 'Victory' from Athena as I passed out on to the cold snow.

I know it's been a long time since I wrote another chapter, it's because I was having writer's block. But now I hope I'll be back on track with this! I hope you liked this chapter!!! Byee!
