{ Not about angels - Birdy }

His hands were shaking, but so were mine. The only difference was that his hands were covered in blood and bruises, he had definitely fought back this time. "Isaac," I whispered. He moved his body closer to me and laid his head onto my lap. I carefully stroked his messy, brown hair. "We have to leave, your dad might come back," I said, scared of upsetting him again. He seemed so peaceful with his head resting on my legs and my hand stroking his hair. I would have loved to keep doing that, but we really needed to go. Isaac simply nodded as a response and he slowly uncovered his face. My eyes widened when I looked at him. His left eye was swollen, his lip and nose were bleeding and his eyes were red because of all the tears that had left his eyes. "Isaac, you're staying with me, I don't care for how long, but I'm not letting you stay here any longer," I said, meaning every single word I just had spoken. He nodded, again. "Let's get your stuff," I mumbled and grabbed his wrist while walking towards the stairs. We walked upstairs in silence and Isaac entered his room. It was a total mess. Clothes were laying on the floor, his bed wasn't made and his schoolbooks were spread all across his bedroom. "Your room is so messy, don't you even dare to make my room this messy," I grinned and a soft laugh escaped his mouth. It was a nice sound to hear after all these sobs. "I'll try, I promise," he said and started to pack all of his stuff. I sat down on his chair and watched him. I moved my hand towards the pocket of my jeans to grab my phone, but then I realized that it was still in my car. A sigh left my lips and I kept looking at Isaac.
Most of his clothes were propped into his bag, his schoolbooks were also packed and even his toiletries. "I think I have everything," he muttered and I nodded. "Then we can go," I said with a soft smile. I had a glance at the clock hanging in his room and it was thirty past twelve. I could say goodbye to my good night of sleep, but Isaac was worth it. Some loud noises came from downstairs, the door was being closed with a hard bang and I jumped out of fear. My breath stopped and some things fell on the ground downstairs. "Piper, you have to go," he muttered, while pushing against my shoulders. "He- he'll lock both of us in the freezer," he said in fear and a tear left my eye. "I won't leave you behind. You're my best friend, I won't let him hurt you, not again," I muttered and moved closer to the stairs. While being scared to death I took a deep breath and looked down. "I'll be back in a few minutes, stay here," I said to Isaac and I slowly moved downstairs.
"Isaac! Come here now!" I heard his dad yell and I quickly wiped away the tears on my cheeks. "It's- it's me Mister Lahey," I said, I placed my hands on my hips to look confident. "Oh, Parker, isn't it?" The fake smile on his lips made me feel sick and I shook my head. "It's Piper and I'm taking Isaac to my home. I won't let you hurt him any longer," I said.
His flat hand hitted against my cheek. It started to burn and I couldn't hold my tears back. That was the first time your dad had hurted me.
