Even as a kiddoo, I had already known that what I wanted to do was manage something. I just didn't know what, or should I say who.
This job I was a applying for was to assist a tour manager. I'd get a sneak peek of how touring worked, and I'd get to be present during meetings with the artists & their management crew. This was benefitial to me because I'd get to personally observe and listen to what an artist manager actually does.
I had arrived in America Monday, and turned in my resume to the receptionist Tuesday. Wensday and Thursday they'd be calling in the picked out applicants to get interviewed. The final results weren't going to be known until Saturday though.
Ever since I had woken up, my phone was never out of sight of mine. "I'm more than sure you'll get called in later on today, stop worrying so much, Mel." Lexie, my cousin said finishing up watching the dishes.
I smiled at her from the sofa, where I was seated indian style, somewhat paying attention to Disney Junior on television. "Let's hope," I replied,"thanks again for letting me stay here for a while."
She sat down next to me,"No problem. Why don't you go out and explore? I mean this city isn't the most interesting, but as a tourist everything seems as if."
I snorted,"Oh I am, I just really need to get this out of the way first. I just don't think I'll enjoy my day out with this on my mind."
"Fair enou-" Lexie said but was interrupted by her daughter Maddie tapping her leg. Maddie's toungue was out and filled with a purple liquid, in her hand was a pen.
Lexie and I jumped from our seats frantically. "Oh my god! Maddie sweetie, you can't put pen ink in your mouth," Lexie said as she carried her toddler hurriedly to the restroom.
I was about to go help, but as soon as I took a step to where they headed, my phone rang. I widened my eyes when I checked the phone screen, and it was an unknown number. What if this was them? What if they were calling me in?
I covered my mouth and tried to contain my squeals as I answered the call. "Hello?"
"Hi, this is Linda from Capitol Records. Is this Melody Jackelynn Bauer?"
"Good day, this is she," I said bitting my lip excitingly.,"how may I help you?"
"You recently applied for a job, and Mr. Zalchman from Modest Management would like to interview you today at two in the afternoon. Are you able to make it ma'am?"
"Of course, yes, no problem, that's perfect." I replied
"Okay, we expect you here. Have a good day." she said and hung up. I threw my phone on the sofa and let my squeals and screams and jumps come out at last.
"Did they call?" Lexie yelled from across the house.
"Yes!" I responded. She congratulated me, and I thanked her. It took me a few more seconds to calm down, and realize this was just an interview. Anything could happen still. This doesn't mean I had gotten the job just yet.

I sat cross-legged on a wood bench just outside of the meeting room a long with three other people. They all were either wearing slacks and a proffesional-like blouse, or were in dress pants and a button up shirt. Very diffrent from what I was wearing, which made me self-conscious.
I wore light washed, high wasted jeans. My shirt was a light pink, and I had added a white and grey flannel. As for my shoes, they were my high top white converse. It was casual, but still looked like I put in some effort into it.
The door was opened, and everyone looked over to the guy that came out. His hair was a dark brown, and he wore some black skinny jeans with a blue t-shirt. He looked familiar, and if I could recall correctly, he's one of the members from the band this is all about. Calum, I believe. The shuffling of the two girls that were waiting as well, didn't go unnoticed. They seemed to know he was the artist as well.
Soon after a man walked out with a pen in hand, and looked at us. He sent us a nod, and said, "Okay, first up, Melody. Melody, are you here?"
I took a sharp breath in, before slowly standing up. He looked at me firmly, and motioned me to follow him inside the long, and wide room.
A long glass table was in the middle of the room, with about seven people around sitting and waiting.
"Take a seat." the man said pointing to a seat in front of all of them. They all watched me, every move I did. It made me quite uncomfortable.
"Okay so this is Melody," he said,"I'm Henry, glad you could make it here today."
"Glad to be here." I said, and suddenly a guy with a quiff and a lip ring leaned in, seeming interested all of us sudden.
"Alright so, first of all. In your resume, you state that you have some experience in organizing events. How's that?"
"Well, my aunt back in Australia is an event planner. To get my community service hours, I'd volunteer to assist her in budgeting, and running arons she needed to do last minute sometimes."
"I see, she does have good things to say about you. Moving on," Alan said,"I need you to understand that this job can be quite tough at times. Tell me something to convince me you'd be one hundred percent commited to this, and won't quit on me."
"These guys are kinda hot." I replied.
Something I learnt, be remembered. Don't get lost in the crowd, be bold. This was a bit risky, since I might seem like another fangirl. But he said did say to tell him a reason I wouldn't quit.
"I hear no lie there," the guy that walked out of the rooom earlier commented, walking back to his seat.
"Look Miss Helcamp, this is serious. That sense of humor isn't very much appreciated at the moment." Alan said strictly.
"I didn't say that for humor purposes. It's the truth, sir. But if you'd like another reason, I can guarantee you that my determination to do something I've wanted to do for quite a long time has often lead to many of my success," I said,"of course my type of success is diffrent from yours, mine's mostly academically and not music related. But then again, we're all trying to get somewhere that can benefit us with persuing our dreams, or helping others do so in this bussiness."
