Cloudy skies, and wet streets. Fresh air, the smell of coffee beans, and of the city after a rainy day. Instead of visiting, can I just live in London?
I was just outside the airport waiting for the arrival of the taxi I had called. I'd be heading to one of my internet friend's apartment. We had bonded over our love for James Bay via Twitter and she had visited me last year. Her name is Zeidy, and is a delight.
Though today, I was mainly here because I had thankfully, and surprisingly, gotten the job. Alan said he liked my attitude, and resume. Furthermore, he gave me the job and a chance to go back home for a week then meet him at the famous Modest Management building in London. They are supposedly a great management company, and I hoped this would be so much fun.

I pressed the doorbell, and excitedly stood waiting for the door to open.
"Oh my goodness, Mel! You're here!" Zeidy exclamed pulling me in for a tight hug. I squealed and hugged her back,"I can't believe we're together in real life again! I missed you tons!" I said back. When we finally pulled away, she invited me in, and apologized for not being able to go pick me up.
"It's totally okay, no worries. You're letting me crash here for God knows how long, that's more than good enough for me. Thanks again by the way."
"You're welcome," she said leading me to her extra room,"you can stay here." I nodded and she left to let me get settled in.
For the rest of the morning, despite how tired I was, Zeidy and I spent the time walking around the city. Since she had to get to her class, and I had to meet with Alan and a few others, we decided to part ways.
Which only left me with the GPS on my phone, and and my third coffe today.
And as I walked by many people, and viewed many buildings with such architectural beauty, me being me let my mind wander. Once upon a time, all these buildings were just sketches on paper, with not much meaning to anyone. But if it wasn't because of time, all of this would have never existed. Which just took my breath away. That and also noticing that I was walking into the street instead of the side walk.
I gasped and jumped back bumping into a stranger. My face turned red as I apologized to both the driver of a car who had to hit the brakes last second, and the person next to me who I had barely even acknowledged.
I took another step to my right while covering my face with embarrassment, which caused for me to accidentally step on the stranger's foot. I rapidly turned to him, and apologized.
"Oh my- are you okay? I'm sorry," I said putting my hand on his arm trying to take a look of his face.
"I'm okay, are you?"
Is that an aussie accent I hear? The guy looked down at me and I realized who he was. "Wait-I know you. Mia-hold on, no. Uh...Mel! Mel, right?" he said.
I smiled and confirmed. "Yeah, Calum, right?" He nodded and stepped back.
"Hey," Calum said, then asked,"are you in the UK for thr meeting with management too?" I took a drink of my coffee, then nodded. "Yes, actually. I'm heading there now."
"We'll you're in the right direction, mind if I walk with?" he asked. I shook my head,"be my guest."
As we walked we talked about his visions for the upcoming tour that was yet to be announced. "I was really hoping to include some places we haven't gone to." he replied.
"How so?"
"It's just that," he said then sighed,"I really love our fans. We have so many of them around the world, a lot of them want to attend our shows but don't get a chance to because we make our shows too far from the places we have fans at as well."
I nodded, and looked at him since he paused. "Do you get me? Or does this just sound weird?" he asked. I laughed, "Why would it sound weird? You have my attention, keep going."
He smiled and continued, "Well I'm sure management already have the idea of setting up the shows where we have already gone to before. Don't get me wrong, but I don't want the same fans constantly going to our shows. I want others to attend them as well, the ones that barely get any visits from us have done just as much as the others. I just wanna give back to them with a rockin' show they could enjoy."
I nodded, that seems pretty fair. "You're right. I mean, you just want the fans you rarely visit to have a chance to go see your band without having to go the longest ways."
"Exactly, but it's not like management really cares about such. The constant fans are seen as dollar bills, management is good at what they do, but what they do isn't always the happiest route they can take. They just suck ass sometimes." Calum admitted, then widened his eyes.
"No offense to you since you're technically part of our management. I'm sorry that was dumb." He apologized.
I smiled,"Dude. Calm down, it's okay. I'm not offended or anything, I just find it kinda funny. I'm guessing Modest isn't as great as most people say it is?"
He snorts,"Damn right."
