Chapter: 6
I can feel my eyes start to water so I quickly hold back. He was doing this, putting my life, putting all our lives in danger for me. Why? He had a life other then me: a family (even if they judged him), friends (even though there were only a few), and a house (even though it was close to Slenderman).
"I'll show him around," I said to my dad.
"Alright, take him to the fence where you patrol," he said. When we were far away enough from the proxies and Slender I pushed him up against the tree.
"Are you crazy?" I whispered-shouted.
"Maybe," he said, "I couldn't let you stay here."
"Why would you do that, even if it wasn't safe here, it was safer then risking everyone's lives, especially yours."
"So you mean to tell me," he says moving his bangs away from his grey eyes, "That you value my life more then your own?"
"I....I guess so," I say then look up at him, "No....I know so." I guess that's what love is. The back of his head is still rested on the tree and I lean in and kiss him. He kisses me back.
"Ahem," Neckbreaker says, "So this is who you were talking to yesterday. I heard about your little plan, and I know all about the marked one," she says looking at Dar, "I knew about it long before I became a proxy, I know what danger we're all in. I just want you to know, I'm in. What ever you need, I'm in. It was a stupid choice, a few years ago. Running away from home. My parents were rude, but I was dumb. Let's stop Slender, no matter what the cost."
"Here's the plan," Dar says as we start walking, we'll distract Slender and you hug him and grab his book-"
"He'll just grab it back," Neckbreaker sighs.
"You can ask to use something rectangular to hold something for your room, just say you're redecorating it."
"Then what?"
"You grab it and open it up and place your palm on one of the pages, they say that the marked one will know what to do from then on."
"And what if he doesn't give it to me?"
"Then we'll think of something else."
"When will we do this?" Dar and Neckbreaker look at each other.
"We'll set a date tomorrow," Dar says.
The next day we walk along the patrolling area.
"I was talking to Jake (another proxy), he said that most proxies will be busy in two days," Neckbreaker says.
"Why do the proxies need to be busy?" I asked.
"Because," Dar quickly says, "They could help Slenderman defeat you."
"Will you be there when I go to defeat Slenderman?" I ask.
"We both will," Neckbreaker says, "And no matter what happens, I want you to know that what ever happens, as long as Slenderman gets captured it will be alright." Her words scare me lightly. Is she saying I will die? I hug both of them gently.
"I can't thank both of you enough," I say.
"Get your things packed within two days, ok?" Dar asks walking away after kissing me on the forehead.
"I will," I say. That night I already start packing.
"What are you doing?" My dad asks.
"I'm getting ready to start decorating my room," I say.
"Decorating?"
"You know, clear out some thorns, level the log better, get my stuff rearranged." I pick up my finished drawing of a teddy bear and hug it.
"Sure, if that's what you want," he says, "I have to go, goodnight Eve."
"Goodnight," I respond.
I feel kind of bad for Slendy. I know he is a killer, but he IS my dad, well, my adoptive dad. He loves me, even if he'd still kill me. Maybe that's why he was so strict with the time I get to spend with Proxies. He doesn't want to lose his little girl like he did with his other children. But I know he kills people, and that he must be stopped. I sleep after a night of tossing and turning.
The next day I sow a button over the missing eye of Tedward (my other teddy bear) and put him away. I walk with Dar and Neckbreaker.
"I'm going to miss this," Neckbreaker says looking up at the sky, "the blue sky hidden by the dark trees and the quietness." Dar and I look at the part of the gate we would always talk through. I gently hold his hand and he smiles at me. His hand is as soft as the rabbits I would sometimes be forced to hunt for food.
I wake up the next day and meet up with Neckbreaker and Dar; today is the day.
