Chapter 9

I sit in my room, typing on my phone when my mom walks in,

"Happy sixteenth," my parents say holding a gift. I run up and hug them.

"Thank you so much," I say smiling as I close my red eyes. That right, red, I know why though, I'm part shadow child. I know, it sounds creepy, but my mom has powers. They can be used for good and for bad. Like, she can create a shield of- oh you know?

Well do you know about my two little siblings? They're twins, a boy and a girl. MY little brother's name is Daniel and my little sister's name is Violet. My name is Evanora, but everyone calls me Eva. People in my mom's home town knew our story, we live miles away from any town, though. My little siblings don't know, but my parents will one day tell them; one day.

As for me, my parents had to tell me early when I made my book collection float in midair. Everyone in my family has natural black hair except for me, I get it from my grandpa on my mom's side. I dye it black sometimes (not always because it will ruin my hair). I grab the box from my parents hands and trace over the red ribbon with my black nails. I open it and see two white boxes. I open one, it's a diamond anklet.

"Thank you so much!" I cheer putting it on my bare feet. I open the other box to see a key with the skull at the end.

"It's for that room I never let you go into," my mom says, "I think you are finally old enough." I loved all the presents form my sweet sixteen, but finally getting to see "the room", that is awesome.

"You know, I met your dad on my sixteenth birthday, the jewels in the middle of our wedding rings are pieces of the fence we used to meet up by."

I run down the hall and unlock the door, when I step inside, I see all the things mom had in her bag the day she captured Slender man. I look up at the wall and gasp. There is a drawing of him. I feel a small part of me becoming welcomed home, and I know the twisted, wicked reason why.

I was born from the light of the shadows.
