Chapter 11~ Alcohol and Courage
Pete's POV
I watched as Ryder drank another shot with Haley and glanced back down to my nearly empty bottle. I felt the sting of alcohol on my throat and coursing through my veins. I always could throw a pretty damn good party.
Patrick sat beside me rambling on about how stupid some movie was and Cameron was laying on his back in the floor in front of me. "For goodness sakes, man, stop eye raping her," Cam groaned.
I looked away from Ryder and stared intently at him. "What?" I asked. Was it that obvious?
"I get it, she's hot. But if you don't have enough ball power to ask her out then stop moping," he slurred.
By this time, Patrick had shut up and was listening. "Y-you like Ryder?" he stuttered.
"No. I mean yes. Fuck, I dunno, man," I shrugged. It's a good thing both of them were more smashed than me. Unfortunately, I still wasn't able to think clearly.
"Thank God," he yelled, surprising me.
"I thought you liked her?"
"I did, but realizing how better you are for her crushed those feelings in all honesty," he admitted.
"Now that we're all on the same page, I have a proposal," Cameron winked at me.
I swallowed the last gulp of my alcohol and gave him a nod to keep talking. "You should kiss her." I choked on my drink the second those words spilled from his mouth. Is he fucking crazy or just stupid? Probably both. "Hear me out, man. If it goes wrong then just pretend to be drunker than you are and if it doesn't, then you're set."
Maybe it was the buzz or maybe it was the hope that it'd work, but I thought it was an excellent idea at the moment. I gave Cam and Pat a toothy smile and shoved my intoxicated body off the couch. I pushed my way through the sweaty bodies dancing and spotted Ryder sitting with none other than Panic! At The Disco and El. I sat down on the floor beside Ryder and wrapped my arm around her shoulders. She was used to this, so she didn't react.
"Hey, I haven't seen you in a little while," she smiled at me. "We were just playing truth or dare."
"I'm in," I said.
"Pete, truth or dare?" Brendon winked. He was always trying to get me to make a move on Ryder, so I knew what to expect.
"Dare."
"I dare you to kiss the most fuckable person at this party in the coat closet for a bit of seven minutes in heaven," he smirked. [AN THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO LISTEN TO SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN BY FALL OUT BOY HA]
I took a sharp intake of breath and gained the courage to do what I felt like I needed to. I stood up from my spot and grabbed Ryder's hand. Her eyes grew wide and everyone was watching us in silence. They probably didn't think I had the "ball power" as Cameron called it.
She remained silent, but allowed me to lead her to the small coat closet across the living room, ignoring the cheering from Brendon, Ella, and Spencer. Once I had closed and locked the door behind me, I flipped on the light switch. Before I had turned around, she asked, "Wha-"
Before she could finish, I quickly turned around and pressed my lips against hers. I only got to taste her minty breath once before, and this time was just as euphoric. My arms snaked around her waist and she brought her arms around my neck, pulling me closer. Our lips moved in sync, turning into lustful motions quickly.
"Let's take this to my room," I whispered into her ear. She nodded and we escaped unnoticed into the confines of my bedroom. She quietly slipped in the door behind me and I closed and locked it securely.
I turned around to face her, her black eyes burning into mine. I strode towards her and connected our lips once more and whispered, "Finally."
