Ethan's Pov.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Madi's life line box thing keeps beeping. Which means she's doing good and breathing. I check the time after rubbing my eyes sleepily. Its 6:42am. I haven't went to bed yet either. I've been too focused on Madi.
Haley, Madi's mom, is in the cafeteria with Madi's dad, Cameron. I sigh as I sit and wait, watching the girl of my dreams.
She's pale. It's almost as if she was albino. My poor Madi. I swear, that drunk driver will pay! I'll get him Madi, for hurting you; for hurting my Madi.
Just then Haley walks in through the door with Cameron. "Ethan," Haley says quietly. "why don't you go home and get some rest?" She asks. I shake my head. "I'm not leaving her."
Haley nods. "I understand Ethan but-" I sigh. "Haley, I'm not leaving your daughter." I say finally. Haley nods and Cameron closes his eyes.
They both take a seat in the chairs. Now, it's just a waiting game. Waiting to see if she'll stop breathing. Waiting to see when she'll wake up. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.
After a few hours I start to drift off and close my eyes. "Ethan." Cameron nudges me. I instantly jolt up. "Yeah?" I ask.
"Haley and I are going to go home to get some rest." He says wearily. I nod. "Okay." I look at him and he gives me a frown. "Are you sure you don't want to come with us? The hospital will call when she's awake." I shake my head.
"I'm fine. I'm not leaving her." Cameron gives a small smile. "You're a good kid Ethan. We'll see you later." Cameron says before walking out the door with Haley.
I get up and sit in the chair next to Madi's bed. I grab her hand and squeeze it gently as I lean back. I rest my head against the wall and begin to drift off to sleep.
Before I'm fully asleep Madi squeezes my hand gently. I open my eyes and look at her to see her looking at me. "Madi!" I smile. "Ethan you need rest." She says wearily. I sigh.
"I told your parents and now I'm telling you. I'm not leaving your side." Madi frowns. "Then sleep with me." I give her a confused look. "What?" I ask. "Climb into bed with me." She says slowly.
"Is that allowed?" I ask. Madi shrugs. "I just want to snuggle you." She says with her small, soft voice. I smile and take off my shoes. Carefully, I climb into bed with her. She lays her head on my chest and closes her eyes.
I close my eyes as I wrap one arm around Madi. Together we lay there; still and quiet. Peacefully cuddling. This is all I want in life. I love this girl and she knows it.

I'm awoken by a nurse gently shaking me. "Hm?" I hum. "You can't be in bed with her sir." She says.
Are you fucking kidding me? Are you being serious right now? For real? Hell no.
"Look, I get that but she asked me to lay in bed with her. She's really tired and just wanted me next to her." I state. The nurse looks taken aback.
Yeah, I totally went there. Don't mess with me and MY Madi.
"Sir-" I quickly cut her off. "If you're so worried about it then get her doctor in here." Yeah, I went there again.
I watch as the nurse exits the room. I sigh and close my eyes snuggling back up to Madi. Gently, I play with her hair as she snores.
