"First years! First years! Yeh follow me! First years! Don't worry about yer luggage, we'll take care of it"
Albus and Scorpius got off the train and headed to the deep voice.
"Well, well, well. What are my eyes seeing? Hit me if it isn't a Potter and a Malfoy comin' closer"
"Hello Hadrid" Albus greeted smiling, followed by a scared Scorpius.
"You know him?" Scorpius asked looking at Hadrid.
"Who?" Scorpius shook his head towards Hadrid. "Hadrid? Yeah. He's a friend."
"An enormous hairy friend, if you don't mind"
"Professor Hadrid, if yeh don't mind" Hadrid who had just returned carrying a lantern and heard the conversation said. Scorpius gulped heavily and nodded his head. "Now, everybody, welcome to Hogwarts. It's tradition that first years arrive to the castle on boats, luckily for yeh, the lake is quite calm, but I warn yeh, don't draw yer head or arms out of the boat, unless yeh want to be pulled by a Grindylow. Now, make groups of five and get on the boats"
Albus and Scorpius got in the last boat, where Rose was already sat next to a darkhaired girl and a brownhaired boy. The boy spoke up first, with a nervous laugh.
"He's kidding right? There aren't any Grindylows here"
"Oh, but there are" Scorpius answered quite excited gaining everyone's attention. "I read the lake is full of magical creatures, some are nice, others are less nice. Like the Grindylow, for exemple"
"What is it? The Grindylow"
"It's a small, horned, pale-green water demon and a Dark creature" Rose answered.
"How do you know that?" the brownhaired asked frowning.
"I read it on my mum's Fantastic Beasts and where to find them exemplar. It's full of notes and acclarations"
"It sounds boring" the girl added. Rose's face fell and she looked unsure.
"What? Are you kidding me? I find it fascinating" Scorpius joined enthutiastically. "The Grindylow, it has a sickly green colour, with green teeth and small pointy horns on its head. It has long, strong fingers which it uses to strangle its prey, and is a rather good swimmer" Scorpius looked around, snapping back from his pasionate explanation, Albus was looking worriedly at the boy, who seemed about to throw up, the girl had a disgusting grimace on her face while Rose seemed impressed.
"Gross"
"Yeah, gross" Rose repeated, replacing her grimace by disgust copying the girl's. Albus and Scorpius frowned at that.
"Anyway, what house do you think you'll be sorted into?" the girl said.
"Gryffindor" Rose said without any doubt. "Just like my parents and the whole family actually"
"Great. What about you?"
"I don't know. My mum was in Hufflepuff, and my dad in Gryffindor, I just hope not to be on Slytherin" the boy answered, making Albus feel that weight on his shoulders again.
"Hey, what's wrong with it? My family has always been in Slytherin. And I turned out gr- just fine!" Scorpius defended himself.
"If you say so..." Rose whispered but it wasn't that low so everyone heard her and it made the girl laugh.
"Whatever, I'm going to prove you all Slytherin isn't that bad. Well... That, if I don't get sorted into Hufflepuff, of course. Actually, my dad would kill me if I was sorted in Hufflepuff. Oh Dumbledore, I might die tonight..."
Albus was thankful the subject was abandonned when they finally saw the castle. They were all amazed and surprised. Even Rose, who Albus knew had read everything readable about Hogwarts.
