"Charlie, why'd you need to talk to me?"
"I'm breaking up with you."
Ten minutes, it'd been ten minutes since Charlie broke up with her. Riley Matthews sat there in shock. She didn't look up with fury or confusion, she looked up with sadness, heartbreak and pain. "Why?" was the only question that raced through her head and she muttered it to herself 18 times in the last ten minutes. He never answered and walked away. Walked away with Riley Matthews, crying. Crying as she never did before. She sat there in shock as he walked back in but only to say, "Oh, also I forgot my wallet and you ordered a burger and I ordered a milkshake. Sorry, not really." Jerk. The whole diner sat in shock as they'd just watch this unfold.
"Hey Charlie," Riley Matthews stood tall and proud as she embraced her boyfriend of 7 months. "Hi, Riley," he said as he slightly insecurely hugged her back. She noticed something was off, "What's wrong, hun?" "Nothing."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, let's just sit down okay I need to talk to you."
"What would you like to order?"A tall dirty blonde waiter stood above them, his name tag read 'Lucas' he looked the same age, maybe a year older. He worked at Night Hawk Diner after all.
"I'll have a hamburger." The brunette replied eargerly.
"Just a vanilla milkshake. And pretty boy, stop checking out my girlfriend."
"I wasn't, but okay. One hamburger for you," he said pointing his pencil at Riley, "and one vanilla milkshake for you. That's it?"
"Yes, now get lost pretty boy."
"I'm sorry for his rudeness, Lucas," she said Lucas fairly slow almost questioning if that was his name, "thank you."
"No problem." Lucas walked off confused, as he saw Riley a few times in school and wondered why she didn't recognize him. He had a distant crush on her since 8th grade. But he acknowledged she'd never notice him. But also, why'd Charlie care so much, it was Lucas' job to interact with the customers. Speaking of which he should get back to unless him and his little sister want to live on the street. That was until the whole diner stood frozen, Lucas was very confused at first but then he heard a familiar voice yelling. It was Charlie's voice, "I'm breaking up with you." Oh no, this couldn't be good, Lucas thought to himself. Hysterical crying came from Riley as the whole restaurant was swept over with silence. Riley managed to get out, "Why?" but he never answered, Charlie just walked out like nothing happened. Their food hadn't even come yet. But he walked back in and Riley's eyes lit up, while Lucas wanted to pounce.
Then he walked out again, just like before, pretending nothing happened. Leaving a heart broken Riley Matthews at the table, alone. It was late and most people had left the Night Hawk Diner so it left just Riley, Lucas and the fry cook, Joe.
Lucas started to walk over to Riley's table to serve her the burger and milkshake.
"Here's your burger and you can have the milkshake or I can just take it off your tab," he said flashing his pearly white smile at Riley.
"I'll take the milkshake, thank you. And, I'm sorry you had to see that."
"It's fine, I'm impressed you didn't start yelling, that's what I would've done," Lucas said sitting down in the booth seat across from her.
"It took everything in me not to," she said chuckling while playing with the straw in the milkshake.
"Well, that's good."
"I guess so, um the wound is still fresh, mind if we talk about something else."
"Anything you want," he said, immediately regretting it and putting his head down, embarrassed.
"Hm, your name is Lucas, right?" He nodded. "Well Lucas where do you go to school?"
"Abigail Adams High School, I'm a junior."
"Oh! I go there too, why haven't I seen you around?" He shrugged, but he knew Lucas never was going to be noticed by the most popular and sweet girl in school. She spent her time socializing, while he spent his time on the football field.
"Well, Lucas, I hope we run into each other more on campus. Do you do any sports?"
"Football, I'm the quarterback," he replied finally lifting his head back up.
"Oh, cool! I go to the football games. Are you number 17, Friar?"
"That'd be me," he said.
"You're really good, sorry I only ever knew last names."
"Well maybe one day mine could be yours," he mumbled to himself, underneath his breath.
"What?"
"Nothing. So do you do any sports, Riley?"
"How'd you know my name?"
"Everyone knows your name it'd be hard not to. It's all the football team ever talks about, is you and how'd they do- never mind."
"Okay..." she chuckled nervously, knowing where that statement was going. "And no, I don't do any sports. I tried cheer freshman year, but that didn't work out. So then I joined theater, and almost fell down the stairs at my audition. But then I just stopped those activities and just started talking. Talking to people and they seemed to like that. That's when I met-" she started to break down yet again. "I'm sorry I'm so pathetic," she said wiping the tears from underneath her eyes with her pointer finger.
"You're not," Lucas said getting up and sitting next to her, she scooter over and he put his hand on her arm and rubbed her back. "That boy you were in here with before is the pathetic one for breaking up with you. You're amazing Riley."
"Thank you but I'm not," their gazes were locked on each other. Tension. Tension was the only thing keeping them apart from each other. "It's a Friday night and I'm in here sobbing to you, you should be hanging out with your friends. I'm sorry I'm keeping you from that, you can go if you want." But the thing was, Lucas didn't want to leave her crying in the diner, alone. He leaned in when he was interrupted by Joe, "Lucas, Lucas' friend," they both turned their heads, "I'm leaving my shift was over a half an hour ago and so was yours, Lucas, but I can't wait any longer so just lock the place up when you're done Lucas."
"Yes sir." Lucas replied and Joe walked out handing him the keys.
"Maybe that's a sign I should leave," the brunette announced to Lucas' dismay.
"No it's okay, I have no where to go."
"A family to get back to?"
"No. My little sister is over at her friends house and-" he was cut off by Riley's curiosity.
"Tell me about her, your sister."
"Well she's five, uh, she likes cheese puffs. She goes to Elizabeth Adams elementary."
"My little brother goes there," she smiled at him.
"Cool, what grade is he in?"
"Second."
"What else?"
"What?"
"No offense but our siblings are kind of boring, what about you?"
"Me?" Riley hesitantly asked. "What about me?"
"Anything, everything." He replied.
"Well I talk to a lot of people. I'm a socialite, I take after my dad, Cory. Also known as the AP Human Geo teacher. Most of my friends don't seem like the like me. So I'm very insecure about that. I care a lot of what people think of me. It sucks being that way, it also sucks being called 'popular', I never liked that word."
"I'm sorry for using it, I never knew what it was like to have a lot of friends. That's the only word I associate with it."
"It's okay, so do you have a girlfriend? It's only fair I know your relationship status since know you and half of the tri-state area know mine," She giggled.
"I don't have a girlfriend. Believe it or not no one wants to date the awkward quarterback."
"I'm sure girls would be all over you, especially the cheerleaders."
"Well there was one cheerleader I tried to 'date'," Riley noted his air quotes knowing there was no dinner involved in their 'dating', "her name was Missy. She never liked me, she just used me for sex. I was a pass time for her. I liked her."
"What about love?"
"What about love?"
"Did you love her?"
"I'm not sure, I've never known what loves feels like."
"Well I do, I loved Charlie and before that, I thought I loved my boyfriend, Jasper."
"Well did you love Jasper?"
"No, that was puppy love, or admiration."
"Well what does love feel like?"
"It feels like butterflies come every time you see them, your heart races every time they walk in the room, they know you the basics and much deeper." Lucas felt those things before just not about Missy, about Riley. No matter how insignificant he was in her life, she had that effect on him.
"Well, do you feel like that when it's unrequited?"
"Yea, unrequited love is common. Why do you ask?"
"No reason."
"Ooooooh Lucas who's the lucky girl?" Lucky? Lucas was taken back by that one adjective but he didn't want to over analyze it.
"No one, I'm just asking for hypothetical purposes. Anyways I told you, kind of, that I'm not a virgin. Are you?"
"No, I'm waiting for someone who won't throw me out. Was that what is was like between you and Missy, did she take it and dump you?"
"Not exactly, she took it ignored me then dumped me."
"Well I hope someone else special comes around for you and it feels like the first time."
"Thanks, same for you."
"I know this is soon, but I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date Saturday night?"
"No thanks."
"Oh, okay. I'm sorry if I came on to-" he was cut off by Riley pressing her lips against his. Lucas deepened the kiss laying Riley back on the booth seat, the seats were surprisingly wide. Lucas straddled Riley tugging at her dress waiting for approval she nodded, pulling her dress off of her Lucas threw off his shirt. They were left in the diner, Riley only in her navy blue bra, black underwear and gladiator sandals, while Lucas was in his jeans and boots. Lucas slipped out of his boots pulled off his socks and unzipped Riley's sandals. He started to kiss down Riley's neck leaving a few marks she would have to cover up in the morning. He pulled away for a second Riley giving him a confused look, "I'm not going to leave if you don't."
"I won't," she replied putting her hand on the back of Lucas' head and pulling him back in for another kiss before he resumed his trail of kisses down her neck, collarbone, stomach and then her thighs. He rubbed Riley's underwear against her, before pushing it to the side and rubbing her clit by himself. He pumped his two fingers into her as she held onto the edge of the booth seat. She said his name and a few profanities in pleasure. Then, Lucas slid off his pants and then his boxers.
"Uh-oh," Riley said as she saw his length for the first time.
"What 'uh-oh'?" he inquired.
"How's that gonna- then- um-" he chuckled at Riley's concern.
"It's going to be fine, do you trust me?"
"Sure," knots were building up in her stomach as she slid her underwear down and kicked them off. Luckily, her mother put her on birth control the minute she said she liked a boy back in freshman year.
She closed her eyes and he slowly pushed himself into her and she winced out in pain. Immediately, he pulled out rubbing her hair on the top of her head asking if she was alright. She nodded, "You can continue."
"Only if you want me to."
"Yes, I do."
He pushed himself back into Riley slowly thrusting back and forth. Riley screamed his name out in pleasure and soon came all over his length. When he reached his climax he laughed, because he forgot to pull out before hand. They soon changed and Lucas payed for her meal. He went to the security office deleted the footage and led Riley out the front dort holding her hand and then locked up.
Too bad Riley forgot her pill for the last month.A/N: OTAY WHAT THE FLUFF IS THAT CRINGEFEST THAT I JUST WROTE LORD HELP ME IT WAS LIKE 2000 WORDS.
