**Fairlight’s POV**
“Only a few months and I’ll be back for good.”
I snuggle up closer to George.
“I Just make sure you give Umbridge hell,” I tell him, “and write to me.”
“If I do, will you reply?”
“Depends what sort of mood I’m in.”
“At least you’re honest,” he laughs.
“Nothing compares to the truth,” I smile. He kisses me on the top of the head.
“You’re really warm,” I say, “but it’s still weird to have you in my bed.”
“It’s weird being in bed naked,” George says, “I don’t have any snuggly pyjamas.”
I laugh and cuddle up closer to him.
“You could always just snuggle me,” I suggest.
“It’s weird hearing you say things like that,” George says, pulling me close. I kiss him and he kisses me back, tangling his fingers in my hair. I jump at a sharp knock on the door.
“George?” Fred calls through, “we’ve got to go. We’re late.”
I listen to him move away and George sighs.
“I’d better go,” he says, sitting up.
“We can make it quick?” I suggest. He hesitates.
“Okay.”
“What were you doing?” Molly asks, rushing over, “we’re late! Come on, quick!”
“I don’t want to know,” Fred says, handing George his trunk. George grins and kisses me quickly.
“I’ll see you in June,” he says, hurrying out the door.
“I don’t want to know either,” Dad says, “just… Don’t get pregnant, will you?”
I roll my eyes.
“We were just talking,” I lie. Dad looks relieved.
Some parents will believe anything you tell them with a straight face.
“I’ve got to get to work,” I tell Dad, “I’ll see you later.”
I grab my jacket and head out into the cold. I can see the retreating backs of the Weasleys and sigh. I’m going to miss those guys.
I walk down through the park and into London. Working at a muggle shop isn’t too bad, I suppose. I can usually get away with using magic to do most things. My boss is pretty slack. She calls in sick a lot and leaves me alone to take care of the shop.
We sell dresses. Lots of dresses. And sometimes shoes. But mostly dresses.
A few months later I’m sitting outside a café having lunch and reading the Daily Prophet.
“Excuse me? Can I sit here?”
I look up from my food to find a tall, handsome, blonde boy with blue eyes smiling at me.
“Sure,” I reply without thinking. He sits down and motions to the waitress.
I push the Daily Prophet into my bag as he orders.
“I’m Simon Thomas,” he says.
“Fairlight,” I reply, shaking his hand.
“Fairlight?” he repeats, “that’s an unusual name. What does it mean?”
