:) Another shot at a story ... beginning of. All I can say is give it time - I don't think it is an interesting opener but it might get better with time. Dedication to my friends because they are just as good to me as these characters are to Jade :)
Waking up from my alarm has never been one of my strong points but I am eager to get up this morning. Jumping out of bed I reach for my bedside clock, press a button. When the beeping doesn't stop I press several more random buttons until it does and then switch my stereo on. Dancing towards my calendar, I grab a pen and cross off the date - the 24th June. Exactly one month until the end of my school and sixth form years! I have loads to look forward to like: results, seeing if we have been accepted to university, prom, the holiday all our friends are going on when we have finished sixth form. All in one month!
I have never been more excited to go to school. Getting dressed for school has never been easier: tight skirt, however not short - just above the knee, white shirt, my black and red tie, my black cardigan with black ballet - flat shoes. Once dressed, I clean my teeth and walk downstairs to find my Mum and Dad sitting in the kitchen with Taylor Casey (looking as good as ever) and my twin sister Alicia. Taylor has been one of my best friends since I started Greenhill High School and he drives me to school in his white Seat Ibiza everyday (since he got his license one month ago) or I drive him.
Alicia makes her own way to school via her boyfriend Dylan O Brian (one of the best Football players in our school). "Hi honey, how are you?" My Mum says. "I'm good thanks". Looking at the clock in the fairly modern kitchen, I grab a piece of toast and walk towards the door. Glancing towards Taylor's tall lean figure and towards his brown eyes and dark brown, quiff - styled hair; I grab the keys to the door. "Taylor get your ass out here and take me to school, we are going early today." He looks at me, stands up straight from his chair and salutes me. "Yes Miss".
I glare at him.
"I mean Jade, obviously." He grins, showing his pearly whites.
I laugh and open the door, grabbing my bag from the hook in the hallway as I go. He shuts the front door whilst I walk over to the driver's side. "You want to drive?" He looks at me confused - I rarely drive his car. I nod and look at him expectantly. "Okay ... okay." He says, getting in the car and slinging his bag in the back seat. I drive down the main road, amazingly might I add with my month old license. I deliberately then take the wrong turn at the traffic lights which takes us to Greenhill. "You do know that our school is that way". He points to the opposite direction. "Yes, I just thought we could get some coffee before, I mean, we have got forty - five minutes". He nods and says, "You know me well." Me and him both like coffee.
"I know, it is sort of what friends are meant to do." He nods, looking at the floor.
Parking up was easy because it is so early that we can actually get a space on the usually busy main road (right in front of the cosy little shop). He waits for me to get around the other side before walking in. "Shall we?"
"We shall."
We walk to the cashier, "Hi, can we have two vanilla lattes please." The kind-looking woman nods.
"Yes sure, I'll bring them over."
Taking a seat at one of the tall wooden tables in front of the window, I look across at the quaint shop filled street. Sighing, I lean on the table (by my elbows), I am incredibly tired - as usual for a Monday morning. Tayler sits next to me, tucking his chair in slightly. He grins and looks at me for a moment before he flicks his elbow out so that it jabs me in the arm. Smiling, his big brown eyes look into mine. "Oops, I slipped".
"Oh really", I pull down his tie until the not is the size of a large pea. "So did I". I raise my eyebrows smiling at him.
The cashier interrupts us with our drinks. "Two vanilla lattes?"
"Thank you," we both say in time causing the woman to grin.
"That is £4.50." I give her five pound because I don't have any change.
"Keep the change." I smile at the woman, she must have skill to keep smiling all day at every customer she serves.
Taking my cup in my hands, I sigh. Looking over at Taylor I think, will he ever ask me out? It is a question I ask myself everyday. I shake my head, trying to shake this thought out of my head. Why would he go out with me? "We have one month left of our time at school." He nods.
"It has gone so fast."
He pats my shoulder and smiles jokingly, "Will you miss the place?"
"Actually, yes," ... "Won't you?"
"I guess I will miss some people at school."
"Me too". I smile, "We are all still going on the holiday after, you know."
"Some of us are still going to the same University as well."
We chatted lots whilst drinking our drinks.
Glancing at his empty drink, I toss him his keys, "You want to drive?" I ask him.
"Yes, it is my car."
"Okay, smart - ass."I grin.
The drive to school was good, it wasn't that busy because we were still early. The ride to school consisted of comfortable silence and the radio. We walk to the common room to greet our friends who are in the corner of the large room - as usual. Walking to the corner of the tidily arranged blue seats, I sit next to Megan, "Hey Megan".
"Hey, guess what." Her long, mousy brown hair cascades past her tall shoulders and her bright blue eyes gleam with excitement. "What?"
"I'm going out with Michael."
"Oh My Gosh, that's amazing!" I waved my hands around in excitement catching Taylor's eyes. He grins at me, Michael must have just told him too. They are so suited to each other. They have been flirting for ages, I mean talk about time! "Just invite me to your wedding!" I joke, laughing.
She laughs, "We aren't that far ahead yet." ... "Do you reckon we will last?"
Now this was my turn to laugh. "You have barely started yet. You two are just too cute. You both suit each other so well. I mean who else would remember his favourite burger order?"
"... Fair point." We both burst out laughing as Lauren and the other Megan (our other awesome friends) take their seats next to us.
"Hi!" Lauren practically shouts. I laugh.
"Hey." I didn't ask whether they knew that Michael was going out with Megan or not because Lauren, Megan and Megan are like triplets (in friendship) and will have probably hung out at some point over the weekend - even with Michael having most of the time with Megan. Although, we don't get that much time with Lauren because she usually hangs out with the most popular however most nice guy in school. Lauren and Ashton Irwin in their so called 'not a relationship but totally a relationship, relationship.' They do make me laugh. Maybe Megan and Michael might 'inspire them to make it official' as people say.
The electronic (annoying) bell rings signalling assembly and disrupting my thoughts, the start of the school day.
