Dear Mum,

Hello Mum, it's your son, Jeremy. I'm at base now. Mum, I've joined the army, as a soldier. As soon as I turned 16 I put my name down, and here I am. Dad told me that you had wanted to go into the army when you were a child.

I'm writing this letter is because tomorrow I'm going on the front line. So, I have no idea if this will be my last ever letter to you or not. I don't know if I should say good bye or hello. I suppose, it will be goodbye to the letter writing and I can actually say hello to you.

Mum, I'm sorry I've haven't written to you in years. I'm so terribly sorry, I'll make it up to you; tomorrow, when I fight, I'll fight for you, yes for the country and freedom for generations to come, but it will be purely for you. Just like you fought to stay alive in the hospital when you were having Blake and I.

I love you, Mum, I miss you. There isn't a day that goes by, that I dont think about you. I wanted Blake to have a Mum there with her... I wanted wanted a Mum there with me. It would have been easier with you here with us.

I would've liked to meet you, show you my toy car collection when I was little, played car races with you. Blake would've wanted to do things like play princesses and tea party with you.

So, this is my goodbye and hello letter for you Mum. I may see you soon.

Love you,
-Jeremy
