~My Tips for Writing Stories~
Tip 1:
Grammar
Make sure your story has good grammar. I know this is said a lot but it's true. People become bored with a story that has poor grammar and it also can be annoying. Please ensure your story has correct spelling and punctuation, correct use of speech marks [" "] and most importantly ensure that when you have a new speaker that its written on a new line. Also please when writing your story don't use text talk it shows that you couldn't care about your grammar and a lot of people find it annoying...
Tip 2:
Re-read
Before you publish a story or chapter, ensure you have re-read what you have written, therefore you will be able to pick up on the mistakes you didn't notice before and correct them.
Tip 3:
A good cover
Ensure your story has a good cover (my tips for making a good cover will be in the next chapter)
Tip 4:
Chapter size
I find the size of the chapter is really important when writing. If a chapter is too small the reader feels it should be longer and not enough information was put in the chapter. If a chapter is too long, a reader may eventually become bored and stop reading, it really just depends on what's being said in the chapter. A good length for a chapter in my opinion is 1-2 pages.
Tip 5:
A good overview
Ensure you have a good overview. Don't give away to much in your overview because people may not want to read your story because they know everything that's going to happen. Give small hints on what your story is about maybe even put an exert from you story I've found that really interesting and makes the reader want to find out what happens next.
Tip 6:
Be happy
Make sure you are happy with your work because once you are than really nothing else matters.
That's my tips, if you have any questions feel free to ask once again. And if you found my tips helpful I'd love it if you'd let me know! Thanks!
