Thirteen

~Aiden's POV~

I watched over Emmaline and Jordan, then I glanced over to River. I watched her chest rise and fall. I listened to the soft snores coming from her and I smiled softly when I saw a small smile on her lips.

I then hear Emmaline cry. I shake my head, then I stand up and walk over to her little hospital bed. I picked her up and caressed her cheek.

Emmaline opened her eyes and I could see my eye color stare right back at me. She squirmed a bit, tears still streaming down her face.

I kiss her forehead, patting her bottom as I tried to get her to sleep. Emmaline hiccups, but she didn't stop crying.

I sigh softly and change her. She gave a kitten sneeze and whimpered. I kiss her forehead again after putting the fresh diaper on her, then I frown.

Emmaline sneezes again, squirming and crying. I take the blanket off of her, then I take off my jacket after putting her down for a minute.

I pick Emmaline up again and hold her close, her head near my heart. She blinked, sneezed and hiccuped. I smiled softly, staying calm as I could be.

"What's going on," River mumbled in her sleep.

"I think our daughter has a small fever, but she calmed down when she heard my heart beat," I quietly tell River.

I watch River sit up and rub her eyes, then she looked at Emmaline. I start to had our daughter to River, but Emmaline starts to cry again.

River raises a brow, but I carefully hold our daughter close and let her listen to my heartbeat again. Emmaline quiets down and looks at me with her big eyes.

"Someone's already a daddy's girl," River giggles softly, then she gets up and picks up Jordan, who opens his eyes and coos softly at her.

I watch as River fed him, mentally smirking to myself.

"Aiden Jacob Steiner, don't even think about that," River whispers.

"Think about what," I innocently ask.

River just shakes her head and hands me a bottle for Emmaline. I feed our daughter, smiling the whole time.
