CHAPTER TWELVE.
Ethan’s kisses lasted forever, and only made Sera feel better with each one. It seemed the subtle need for them to breathe had been destroyed and all they needed was each other. In a moment of dizziness, she fell backwards, Ethan’s lips fell from hers and she could only stare at him. He shut his eyes and the shackles holding her back crumbled around her hands, she pulled them up to her eyes to stare at the cuts, he grabbed one and brought it to his mouth, kissing the cuts away. Sera hated to admit that it worked.
He dragged her forwards, “No, no, no, no, stop.” Sera begged as he kissed her up arm, reaching her neck. She almost moaned but held it back. She needed to be strong.
“Never,” He breathed onto her neck, his voice making the hairs there rise, “Never will I stop.”
His lips found hers and she grabbed his face, unable to control herself. Darkness bubbled within her and she felt very hot. He sensed it and slid his hands under the hem of her shirt, but she found the strength within her to push them back. He kissed her harder and she felt dizzy and dark, fire burnt within her and the sheer act of them kissing had made her confused. She tossed her arms around his neck and leaned into him, making him smile on her mouth. He continued to kiss her, for what seemed like seconds, yet what was in reality was minutes.
Finally he disconnected and she felt darkness bubble up within her, “You’re still Sera, that’s why you’re no fun.”
She crossed her arms, refusing to talk to him, “Don’t speak to me, Ethan.”
Ethan’s dark eyes sprung open and he smirked, “I was thinking that Ethan didn’t fit me that well, I was considering Salt, since you know, you’re Pepper, I’m Salt. Made for each other.” He ran his hand along her arm, inciting darkness within her to rise. She yelped and jumped back, hitting her head on the wall, again, only making the darkness more happy to play.
She felt heavy, and her body was hard to move. When Ethan kissed her, or Salt, she felt weightless.
Salt ran his hand through her hair and pulled her forwards, Sera tried to turn away, but he grabbed her legs dragging them around her. “No, get off me!” Sera yelled, but Salt’s hands were drawn around her waist, their bodies pressed together Salt’s lips went to her jawline and she gasped at the amazing feeling of darkness quickly rising.
“Do you want me to stop now?” He asked cockily.
“Yes,” Sera breathed, unable to stop panting.
“Really?”
“Yes!” She screamed.
He chuckled, kissing her lips hardly. She almost lost control, but Jason’s face popped into her head and she relaxed, and for a second, she stopped kissing him back. He kissed her so hard it hurt, she wanted to scream. Darkness was rising quickly, moving through her arms, making her feel hotter then she already did.
“Stop it!” She screamed, pushing him back in a moment of strength. He smirked at her.
“Your strength amazes me constantly,” He mocked, “But the more I touch you,” He rubbed her knee and she gaped at him, darkness took the spot where his fingers had just touched as he pulled back, and it didn’t subside, “the darker you’ll get.”
She clamped her eyes shut and drew her knees to her chest, she felt him touch her leg, and she winced as she tried to fight back the building feeling of death within her. He hit her leg and she opened her eyes, they widened and she could feel them darkening.
“I want Pepper, your time is up.”
*
Casey wrapped her fingers around the cord and cut the oxygen from the air with a tug. She watched the monitor before her, Sera tried to breathe, but her fingers clamped around her throat. Ethan grabbed her face between his hands and whispered something to her, as if he didn’t need to breathe.
Sera’s eyes turned dark, and she coughed blood onto the ground. Casey inched forwards, staring at it, blood poured from her mouth, even as Pepper, there was something she couldn’t shake, something was wrong. She plugged the cord in quickly, and their breathing patterns returned to normal, but Pepper coughed, Salt grabbed her face and shook her gently, he was caring for her. He really loved her.
He kissed her quickly, and she began to cry.
What the hell was happening?
Pepper leaned forwards, and Casey knew exactly what was happening, the room was taking her soul. Casey’s magic room. She screamed out, and Salt kissed her again, soothing her pain. She melted into him. And with a brilliant flash of white searing hot light that burned Casey’s eyes, her fingers tingled and she felt stronger, so much stronger.
She had Sera’s soul. Now it was time to put it to good use.
