My Big Ego (Trumpet Player Story)

1st Day of School

Waking up in the morning, Melanie drug herself to get ready. She didn't want to go to school, but she needed to meet her teachers. Eventually, she got the motivation to get dressed and check her phone.

Melanie rolled her eyes. "Only Dani would be excited for the first day of school." Within 10 minutes, Melanie was out the door and headed towards school.

Walking into school, Dani went into the band hall first, where all of the band kids go. Since Melanie was the first one there, she chose to sit in her assigned seat for class.
One kid after another entered, no sign of Dani anywhere. "She must've met with her color guard friends." Melanie then pulled out her notebook and started drawing manga.
"What's that?"
A familiar voice crept down her spine. Melanie turned around to face Arthur, standing only a couple inches from her face.
"Oh, I... I'm into anime and stuff like that." Melanie said nervously. "Neat, do you mind if I watch?" "Sure!" Melanie honestly didn't like anyone to watch her draw, she was conscious about her drawings, but with Arthur there, she felt she could draw for days in front of him.
Eventually, Melanie finished the drawing.
"That's really cool, do you mind if I keep it?"
Melanie was shocked. No one ever wanted her drawings before, especially someone like Arthur.
"Sure, let me just rip it out."
As Melanie was ripping out her drawing, the bell rang. She gave Arthur the drawing and said that she'll see him later.

After 1st and 2nd block, it was finally lunch time. Melanie had first lunch, so she got the first choice of everything.
After getting her lunch, Melanie found a four seat table and sat there herself. A couple of minutes went by and Melanie was still by herself. Then, for the second time that day, Arthur came and sat with her.
"Hey fresh meat whatcha doing?"
"Eating lunch"
"You don't sound enthusiastic at all"
"Not really, school sucks, and I have all of my classes with idiots"
"Sounds horrible"
"It is"
Melanie and Arthur sit there and talk about their first day of school for the rest of the time until the bell rings.
"See you in 4th block, Melanie!"
"Okay, bye"

After surviving 3rd block with even MORE idiots, it was time for band. Everyone had to go get their change of clothes to get ready to go outside for fundamentals/the first and second movement of their show. Since Melanie's class was on the other side of school, she was the last to get changed. She went to the band hall seeing everyone had left to go out to the field already. Melanie got out her trumpet and water bottle and was headed out the door. Then Arthur entered the band hall.
"Hey, can you wait for me?"
"Sure."
Arthur grabbed his trumpet and water bottle then grabbed Melanie by the hand and started running.
"If we're late, we'll do laps."
That made Melanie run faster than Arthur, and he almost couldn't keep up. Fortunately they made it there without being noticed or missing, so they didn't have to do their laps.

Before she knew it, school was over and Melanie was tired. "Ugh, I have to deal with this until May." Melanie took a shower, plopped on her bed and fell right to sleep.
