after dan said that, we didn't talk about it. he wanted to watch movies all day, so we put in movie after movie until it's nearly five o'clock and we're hungry.
"do you wanna go out?" i ask.
dan looks skeptical as he looks down at his clothes. they're fine, but he's worn them for two continuous days.
"yeah, sure, just let me go get ready." he hops up and runs from the couch into my room. our room.
i decide to brush my hair to pass time while he fusses over his appearance from the mirror.
lily stays asleep in her cage that dan bought her while i lock it. dan emerges from our room looking brand new. his outfit is changed, into a gray shirt and a black jacket and black jeans. his hair is straightened a little bit, still a tad wavy, but i love it when it's wavy.
"are you ready now?" i ask softly. he nods and we head out.

"i cannot believe you got us kicked out of denny's!" i cover my mouth as loud laughter escapes.
dan's bent over laughing, choked seal sounding laughter that makes my heart warm.
"oh man, that was great." he straightens up as people pass by us, giving us incredulous looks. we start walking away from the door and towards the car.
dan somehow managed to get us kicked out of denny's for being a disturbance. he laughed loudly and banged the table but his reasoning was that no one cared because it was denny's. but they threw us out anyway, and it was the funniest thing i've ever witnessed.
we leave the car in denny's parking lot and start walking along the streets. it's around seven now, and surprisingly, the sky is pretty shades of pink, orange, and red. dan stops a second to get a good picture of it. while he's doing that, i quietly whip out my phone and take a picture of him while he's staring at the sky.
he is so beautiful.
