We woke up in the morning to the sun shining and the birds chirping. "Shoot!", Dameon exclaimed, "We woke up late!"
"Late?!", I said surprised, "But it's so early!"
"Well, I wanted to get to Lightning city by lunch. There's a a gym there that I wanted to go to today, because there's a pokemon battling festival tomorrow. Lightning city is home to a lot of big battlers so they hold the battle festival twice a year. Lightning city isn't even that big, either! There's going to be tons of people, and now that you have that houndoom you can participate too, Luna!", he exclaimed excitedly as we put up the tent and started breakfast.
"It sounds like so much fun!", I say with big eyes.
"It is! I watch it on TV every year, and i've always wanted to participate, and this years ganna be my year! I'll win for sure, because the battles are all tag battles and i'll have you on my team Luna! We'll win for sure!" He's grinning triumphantly, and in that moment I believe every word that he says. I'm hanging on to every word and I believe that we're unstoppable as well. I notice that we're both grinning like maniacs, and start to giggle. This causes Dameon to laugh as well, and in a few seconds were both laughing as hard as we can on the ground. I'm holding my aching sides as I slowly get up. This is the most i've ever heard him talk, he must really be serious about this.
Houndooms just sitting there eating his breakfast like hes watching a show. 'Humans are entertaining', he says. I nod in agreement, and so does chimchar.
A bit later we were all ready to go and started heading out. We made small talk with little snippets from houndoom that I mostly ignored because it would be strange to answer, seeing as Dameon couldn't understand him as well. After a little while of walking a boy came running up to us yelling "I challenge you to a battle!"
I turned around to meet his gaze, and he was pointing at Dameon. "You look like a trainer", he says, "And since you're heading to Lightning city by the looks of it, lets see how tough you really are!"
I clutch my egg. This should be interesting, Dameon hasn't battled anyone yet. "I'll be referee", I say and move to the middle. "Got it", they both say.
They glare at each other for a minute before the boy lets out a chikorita and Dameon send out his chimchar. "Ha!", gloats Dameon with a smirk, "I'll win this no problem".
"You may have the advantage", says the boy, "but thats not everything! My chikorita is fast, so it can dodge all your attacks no problem!"
"We'll just see about that", scoffs Dameon. "Chimchar, use ember".
"Dodge chikorita and use tackle!"
The boys chikorita dodged, but barley. It's tackle flew chimchar back a bit. "Again chikorita, tackle!"
"Chimchar counter with ember!"
Chimchar, being inexperienced, still got the brunt of the attack while chikorita looked good as new. This doesn't look good for Dameon.
Dameon lets out a frustrated "No!", while the boy smirks and says "Told ya so".
Chimchar frowns, and uses flamewheel. Everyone looks surprised, including me, and chikorita falls, unable to battle anymore. "The winner is Dameon!" I say, and raise my arm to give him a triumphant high five.
"Maybe you do have what it takes for the festival", the boy says, moping. He puts chikorita back in it's pokeball and tuns to Dameon. "Nice battle", he says and leaves.
"Well that was fun", Dameon says smileing, "I feel like I can beat anyone now!"
I smile nodding. "Well lets go as fast as we can to get to the festival!", he says running ahead. "I'll have to battle the gym leader after the festival now though. That battle sent us back quite a bit, time-wise."
We walked the rest of the way to Lightning city, enjoying the last bit of sun and the beauty of the forest. We skipped lunch, we were so excited to get there. The first thing we did was eat dinner when we got there. Then we set up the tent at the edge of the city again, all the hotels were full anyway. The last town didn't even have any it was so small.
Before heading to sleep, I decided to check in with Professor Jared. I got out my pokegear and pushed his number. When he answerd I told him all that's happened so far, and how were going to enter the festival tomorrow. He said that he hasn't got any leads concerning me yet, but hopes to get one soon. And he wishes both of us good luck in the festival.
I walked back into the tent and saw that Dameon was still awake. "Professor Jared wishes us luck in the festival tomorrow", I tell him."I won't need it", he replies, "We're bound to win anyways."
He smirks then closes his eyes to sleep. I lay down, but it takes me a while to fall asleep with all the excitement about tomorrow. I really hope that it goes well.
