"What exactly am I doing for this project?" I asked Reid, allowing a puzzled expression to develop on my face.
"You're my muse," Reid said with a gentle smirk.
"I never pegged you as an art geek," I replied allowing a faint giggle to escape from my lips.
"Well Miller, there are a lot of things you don't know about me," he whispered as he flirtatiously brushed his fingers along my jawbone.
I felt my cheeks flushing as my skin tingled from his touch. I stared into Reid's chocolate brown eyes which seemed to sparkle in the feeble lighting of my bedroom. I never really noticed before, but he is quite attractive. I snapped out of my trance when Reid pulled away and began to speak.
"So I was thinking that the piece could be my take on surrealism and the effect that society has on shaping our appearance," Reid stated calmly.
I sat on the bed in silence, clueless as to what any of that meant.
"Well Miller?" Reid said. "What do you think?"
"Um... that sounds good I guess," I replied, letting my voice trail off.
Reid was about to begin painting when I abruptly stood up and stated, "I have to go to the bathroom."
As I rushed towards the bathroom near my bedroom I heard the doorbell ring. Assuming it was just a package being delivered for my mother, I ignored the shrill noise and locked the door. I could discern the faint sound of two voices conversing as I tried to make out what they were saying.
"Uh- Is Vic here?" I heard a voice ask.
"Yeah she's just in the bathroom," Reid said, complacency lacing his voice.
I could not apprehend the rest of the conversation, so I made my way down the large spiral staircase to see who was there. As I approached the front entrance, Reid ardently placed his arm around my waist and remarked, "Hey babe."
A perplexed look began forming on my face when I felt Reid place his soft lips onto mine. I was reluctant at first before I decided to play along, allowing my lips to move in sync with Reid's. I pulled away slightly to look at the face standing at the door. My hazel eyes widened when I saw Colin with his mouth gaping.
"Oh! Hey Colin," I said, my cheeks turning a deep shade of pink.
"Victoria, can I talk to you for a second?" Colin asked, clearly bewildered by the scene unfolding before him.
I nodded before stepping outside and motioning for Reid to shut the door.
"What did you want to talk about?" I asked Colin innocently.
"I was coming over here to discuss the French assignment with you," Colin stated firmly. "But seriously, what the hell Vic?"
"What?" I asked him with a naive look on my face.
"I came over because I knew you would be a good friend and help me," he began. "And then I arrive only to be greeted by him opening your door, not to mention you making out with him right in front of me. It's not you, Vic."
"Colin... I was-" I started.
"Just save it Victoria. I don't even want to know anymore," he remarked as he made his way back to his car and began to drive away.
I dashed down the front porch.
"Colin," I shouted. "Please wait!"
But, by the time I got down the driveway he was already gone.

"What the hell Reid," I said as anger fumed throughout my body.
"Look Miller, I was just holding up my end of the deal," he said as he slowly approached me.
"Well look what you did. Colin won't even speak to me," I mumbled as tears threatened to spill out of my hazel eyes.
"Hey babe," Reid said in a mocking tone. "You know the two of us can still have some fun," he remarked, allowing his thumb to run along my bottom lip.
I noticed my eyes flickering down towards his irresistible pink lips. They were soft and warm against mine, moving gently as he pressed himself closer to my body, pinning me against the wall. With my fingers tugging on his curly brown hair, I opened my mouth slightly. A gasp escaped my lips as I felt Reid's tongue slowly slip into my mouth. Jolts of electricity slowly took up my body, making me shudder in satisfaction as a soft moan left my lips.
Reid pulled his lips away from mine, and began trailing kisses down my neck. I tilted my head to the side, allowing him more access before his lips came crashing back onto mine. I felt my stomach tumbling, causing my breathing to hitch.
I pulled away quickly before speaking.
"We can't do this," I stated.
"Why not Miller? I am your 'boyfriend', remember?" Reid said with a hint of smugness in his words.
"I need to apologize to Colin."
"For what?" Reid asked quizzically. "You did nothing wrong."
"I upset him," I replied, a look of hurt flashing through my dull eyes.
"Can't you see? The plan is working," Reid remarked. "He responded out of jealousy."
I permitted myself to think on this concept before recognizing the truth in his words. The only way to make Colin see me as a more than a friend is to make him jealous. And, I know exactly how I am going to do it.
