Just No Good

"She sounds like an asshole." Ainsley commented dryly as they walked down the street, idly window shopping to pass the time on a lazy Sunday afternoon. For some reason Leigh Anne felt like she would be a good person to confide in about her and Perries talk after she finished her shift that night at the club, but she obviously had forgotten that Ainsley had the emotional range of a teaspoon.

"She's not an asshole, she's just... Perrie." The excuse fell from her lips lamely. It wasn't like she was just trying to defend her old friend for no reason, she knew neither of them had exactly handled things the right way, but she didn't truly believe that the girl was giving her such a big responsibility out of nowhere just to aggravate her. After her surprise visit, the two sat and talked for hours, catching up on lost times and untold stories. Leigh Anne told her all about how she and Jordan broke up, the spark just not being there for them anymore, and how she went from just being a dancer to the main event at the club, all the hard work she put into it, and how it was genuinely making her happy. Perrie apologized at least a million times, talked about her job and how it was miserably boring at times, and above all, about Zayn and the wedding. Leigh Anne knew Zayn well enough, him and Perrie were an item when they were still talking, and it wasn't exactly surprising that they were tying the knot, but the details Perrie was giving seemed... Off. It was nothing like they imagined, it was so traditional and so unlike Perrie, that it actually had Leigh a bit concerned. Hence the need to talk about it, even if it was obviously to the wrong person.

"Oh right, I forgot that just because she's Perrie, she doesn't have to follow the rules of being a decent human being. Are you sure you didn't have a thing for her before, because you're totally letting her walk all over you again." Ainsley wasn't a big fan of Perrie, which was ironic because Perrie loved everything about her. Ains felt like Perrie did what she wanted and Leigh Anne just kind of picked up the pieces. But then again Ainsley was always talking about how Leigh was too nice and worried too much about people liking her. It was kind of true, the girl was a lot more cordial then her true sassy self when it came to other people, but that was just being polite, that wasn't a crime. "And weddings always fucking suck. Sure, open bars and cake are awesome, but you have to deal with this couple acting like they just so utterly perfect for each other-"

"It's a wedding!" Leigh Anne interrupted, but Ainsley kept right on.

"Ugh. It's such a waste." The girl made a face, showing her distaste.

"Well suck it up, because you're going." The shorter girl stopped in her tracks, balking slightly.

"Excuse me?" Leigh Anne rolled her eyes and laughed slightly, keeping her stride.

"She likes you, for some psycho reason she thinks you're hilarious, so you're invited. And if you think I'm suffering through this by myself, you're bat shit!" She called back, regretting it as she saw the dirty looks from the older women walking around with their arms filled with shopping bags. She made a face, before she laughed out of embarrassment, not noticing when her friend was back at her side.

"I am hilarious, thank you very much. But no. I rather chew my own arm off. No way." Ainsley was stomping off ahead of her now, making her laugh again. She was such a child sometimes. Leigh crossed her arms and shook her head at her friends back.

"He has cute friends." Ainsley paused again, before she turned back around, an unreadable expression on her face. She was silent for a moment before asking "Just cute?"

Leigh smirked as she shrugged her shoulders, pretending to think it over, taking her time to catch up with her. "Well there's Louis. Plays soccer, and is an arse most of the time. So you'd like him a lot." She knew she was piquing Ainsley's interest, so she continued. "Perrie's brother isn't half bad." She noticed the way she scrunched her nose, and figured that if she was going to win her over, she was going to have to go another route that had nothing to do with Perrie. She tried to think of other options for her, but nothing came to mind.

"So what, this guy only has like 2 friends?" Leigh shook her head, because there was someone else, but that someone was a person she hadn't thought about years. She shrugged her shoulders, not wanting to give any more on.

"Fine, don't go then. I'd have thought you would have jumped on the opportunity to judge people and even possibly get laid, but if you're so against it..." The spark in Ainsley's eyes told Leigh Anne that she had successfully changed the girls mind, and taken the topic off of herself. Ains had gone on about dresses and whether or not Leigh Anne's would be hideous or not, because bridesmaids dresses were always the worst apparently, but Leigh was only half involved in that conversation. For one, she had no idea what dress she'd have to wear, and now her thoughts were on a certain curly headed fuck that she had been totally fine forgetting about until now.

Harry Styles. The boy fucking wonder. He was supposed to be a blip on the radar, a night that she'd giggle about when she thought back on it. It was way back, when her and Perrie were still close, and karaoke nights were a constant thing. You'd think she'd just be completely over it by now, but her knees still got weak when she thought about it. She could still remember the sounds he made when she kissed that spot right behind his-

"Leigh!" The brunette was shaken from her thoughts to be met with a slight shove from her shorter friend. "Your ring tone sucks, pick it up." Leigh rolled her eyes as she fished for her phone out of her bag, sighing as she saw Perries name on screen.

"Hey Perrie." She ignored the gagging noise Ainsley made and focused on her phone call. "What's up?"

"Hey Hun, so I was talking to Zayn and I was thinking the whole wedding party should get together for drinks tonight! So we can all be proper mates for the wedding! I haven't seen Louis in ages, and Harry's back in town, so it just feels perfect." Leigh swallowed hard. That sounded the exact opposite of perfect. She had almost forgotten that Perrie had no idea about her and Harry, and there was no point in letting her in on that secret now, but why did she have to force them together now? It was bad enough she was suddenly a key part in this wedding, with all the texts she was already getting she was pretty sure she was making more decisions then the groom was, and she could live with having to plan out ways to not have to actually interact with him on the day itself, but being "proper mates" was not something she wanted.

"Oh I don't know Perrie. I have to be at the club early, and I kinda made plans..." she had always been a shit liar, so thankfully she wasn't looking at the blonde face to face.

"That's shite and you know it. Come on Leigh, what's better than old friends?!"

Apparently being on the phone didn't help her out as much as she would have liked. She let out a heavy sigh.

"Perrie I-"

"Maxie's at 9 Leigh! Kisses!" The chirping voice was followed by a dial tone. Leigh Anne looked at the phone incredulously, almost shocked that that actually happened.

"Still think she doesn't suck?" Ainsley giggled as she draped an arm around Leigh Anne's shoulders. "Come on. I'll let you raid my closet. If you're stick doing something you don't want to, might as well look hot doing it."
