"Sure kang hindi expired yang test?"
"Edison sabing tumahimik-- oh."
"Kami? What does it say?"
The bathroom door opened slowly, revealing an emotionless Kami with two pregnancy tests on hand. Isa 'to sa instances na hindi matukoy ni Eddie kung acting lang ba 'to o seryoso na si Kami.
"Negative. Thank god."
A wave of disappointment hit him as she showed him the tests. Oo nga, two lines. Those should've dissolved his fear, right? Kami's not pregnant. This is good news... right? She couldn't be pregnant now. Ilang araw na lang at magsisimula na silang magshoot ng thesis film ni Andreau Cortez na Tila. Bukod doon, ang dami pang naka-line up na projects para sa kanila sa mga susunod na buwan. Wrong timing 'to kung nagkataon.
But still. God, the things he had imagined last night. Sina Little Kami or Little eddie na naglalaro sa playground. Nag-aaway sa laruan. Sisiksik sa kama nila sa gabi---
Okay, Eddie. Dyan ka nadadale, eh. Masyadong malago ang imagination mo.
"That's good, right?" Kami asked him, her brow quirking. He knew this situation must be awkward for her since... yeah, their sex life is quite active, but the two of them had never spoken of having children. Ni hindi pa nga niya alam kung boyfriend na ba siya ni Kami o hindi!
"Of course," he replied, smiling. "So... bakit ka kaya delayed?"
'Yon kasi ang naging ugat ng panic nila. They've known each other for eight years, and never nadelay ang period ni Kami... until last week.
"Most likely because of the flu I had last week. Baka na-mess up lang ang hormones ko. Sana by next week magkaron na ako."

"So lesson learned for you, Eddie. You should start wearing condoms again," she blurted out moments later after discarding the pregnancy tests. Tama naman si Kami. They hda this (unsafe) habit of relying mostly on her birth control, because quite frannkly, they both liked it when he came inside her. "Tsaka install mo na 'yong period tracker app sa phone and tablet mo just to be sure."
He nodded in understanding. Damn, he would miss that unsheathed feeling inside her. On the brightside, condoms tended to make him last longer.
Safe sex. Yeah, they could do that. Safe sex could be good sex. Incredible sex even. Ayaw na niyang maramdaman ulit ang panic na 'yon.
(The truth? Takot lang siya na iwan siya ni Kami pag nangyari ulit 'to. She's not ready for this ((them)) yet.)
His thoughts were interrupted when something hit his chin. A silver square packet landed on his lap. "W-what the--"
"Checked your condom stash earlier and yan lang ang hindi expired," Kami snorted.
"So you think we should buy a new stash soon?"
"Definitely. We do have intense work months ahead and that means... mapapadalas ang pre-performance rituals natin."
"Perhaps I should test this one out, no? Make sure this size still fits me."
"Yeah, you should do that. But... can I help?" she asks, her voice lowering an octave, which turned him on in an instant.
She may not be ready now...but he's sure he could changer her mind. Soon, hopefully.
