Larry dropped Van and I off at the college gates and drove off to park his car around the corner because there was no space in the car park.

"Don't wait up guys, I'll just see you at lunch" Larry said as he waved us off.

Van and I walked in to school together and headed off to music. We both were on the school list to focus on music, and after that class we could leave. The bell for class went and I started to head down the music corridor.

"Kathleen. How about we ditch today? Go for a walk in the park instead?" Van asked me. I didn't know what to say. I have never ditched school before. Van reassured me it would only be today and we would come back tomorrow.

"Do you really want to do this Van? What will your parents say?"

"Yeah, why not? They have their hearts in the band, so they don't really care about college too much"

I agreed to skip today and Van grabbed my hand and we started to run out of college. We wouldn't have been able to leave straight out the reception so Van took me out into the yard and lifted me up to a fence.

"Climb over it then Kate. I'll jump over after" he said pushing me over the fence, and soon followed. We continued running till we could no longer see college.

Van lead the way to the park and we sat down by the small river that went through it. The grass was damp so Van took off his jacket so that we could both sit down without getting wet.

"Kathleen..." Van said playfully.

"What Ryan.."

"Hanging out with you the last few days has been really nice. Its been good to talk to someone other than the lads"

I smiled, "Well thanks for welcoming me in, not just to the class but like with all your mates"

"No problem"

I started to shiver a bit as the chilly winter air blew onto my face. The wind was pushing my hair all over my face. Van noticed I was struggling to control my hair, and he helped. He pushed my hair back and tucked it into the back of my t-shirt. He then wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to warm me up.

"Jesus Kate, you're freezing." He said, pulling a jumper out of his bag. "Put this on, you will be warmer"

Van smiled as I squeezed my way into his jumper. We sat by the river for another few hours before we headed back home.

"I better go back to mine. Liz might burn the house down if someone isn't there to keep her under control" I said jokingly and Van looked concerned. I pushed open the gate and got my key out of my bag and put it into the door.

"Thanks for today Van. It was great"

"Yeah, ditto" he said walking down the street, "See ya later Kate"
