Avery: The 'Brett' conversation is not finished yet you're telling me the details at your house after schools and no 'buts'!
Her text repeated in my head. She's gonna be so mad at me. Her first day here and she finds out about my little date with Brett. I don't what I'm gonna do but I do know that I'm not gonna lie to her. We are getting along so well and I don't wanna ruin that. Wow, way to make it sound like we're dating Ry.
The last bell of the day rang and I was hoping that she had already forgotten what had happened until I recieved a text from her.
Avery: Your house. Now. No Bobby or Scott. ASAP!
Great. I grabbed my stuff from my locker and walked outside. I forgot that I didn't ride my board today. 'Looks like I'm walking' I thought to myself. I let out a sigh and started to walk.
I was about 3/4 of the way to my house. I hate walking. I wish I had brought my board with me even though Brett had driven me. I looked onto street to see if it was clear for me to walk. A car that was just about to past me suddenly stopped. The window slid down revealed a familiar face. Derek.
"Hey how come you're walking? Do you not have your board today or did it break? I could fix it." He asked.
"Nah, I had a ride this morning so I didn't think that I needed to bring my board. Guess I was wrong."
"Get in. I just came from dropping Avery off so I can easily turn around." He said. I nodded and climbed in the front passenger seat. He turned down the radio but I had no idea why.
"So how's the battle going? Have you figured out a song yet?" He asked.
"Uhh yeah, Bobby and I both agreed on 'The Reackless and The Brave' by All Time Low" I told him.
2 minutes later, we arrived at my house. I got out of the car and thanked him for the ride and then he drove off. I took a deep breath and walked up my driveway to my garage. I was shocked at the sight in front of me.
"You are such a filthy liar! Why don't you just tell me the real reason for you asking out Riley cause you and I both know that you have a horrible plan behind all of this!" Avery shouted.
"You don't even know me so don't you tell me about my reasons for asking Riley out." He shouted back.
I ran inbetween them to stop any more bickering.
"Why are you here Brett? You can't just show up at my house like this!?" I scolded.
His face softened and looked down at me. He apologized then ran off. Well, that was rude. How does he expect me to trust him if he can't evenbe nice to my friends!? Ugh, maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Leading him on, I know it's wrong but I can't help but think he might actually be a good guy at heart. No. He can't be, can he?
"Ry? Hello? I'm still here you know!" Avery shouted.
She sat down on the sofa and patted the seat next to her. I assumed this was going to be a long talk, and it was. I explained what had happened yesterday. The date, the dinner or lunch I guess, the walk on the beach, Brett's confession. She couldn't believe it. Even though she was my friend for nearly four days, it feels like we have been sisters for life.
She had hesitated for a bit after I told her about his confession. She stared at the floor, deep in her thoughts. I wonder what she was thinking of. Was she judging me? All of a sudden she turns and faces me. With a smirk planted on her face my worries grew. Oh no. She has a thought and I have a feeling that I'm not going to like one bit of it.
She quickly grabbed her bag and pulled out her phone. Umm, she isn't thinking about calling Brett. After their little spat, I don't think that they could both stand to be in the same room let alone the same phone line. She dialled a number and answered.
