Chapter Two

She had her back pressed against one of the colorless walls lining the

hallways, her phone in her nimble hands as she scrolled through the

publicized idiocy that is Facebook. The brunette's teacher had forced

her to stay outside while her classmates proceeded with their testing.Camila had argued her case, pointing out the fact that she had been simply six minutes late, but to no avail. So, here she sat. Bored out

of her wits with nothing but the soon to be regretted memories of

others to entertain herself with.

She had lost track of time a while back, only realizing the length

that had passed once the period bell rang loud through the halls. Camila stood, collecting herself just as the classroom doors flew open, a horde of teens filing into the hallways around her. She made her way easily enough through the crowd as she kept a scanning gaze for anyone she recognized. The first to catch her eyes was the chocolate brown mess of wavy hair that fluttered to her right. Camila reached an arm out, quickly grabbing the tan shoulder of the brunette, Beth, and offered a bright smile.

The girl's large brown eyes flashed in recognition as she returned the smile with a broad grin and a played up wink. Beth's greeting came out loudly, straining to be heard over the mass of deafening teenagers.

"Cam, how's your day going sweetcheeks?"

The brown eyed girls voice rang out, grinning teasingly down at Camila with her impressive height. Camila's smile grew, her eyes scrunching up the slightest bit as she raised a hand up to twirl a strand of her hair, morphing her voice to fit that of a stereotypical valley girl.

"It's been here and there. Pro's and cons, one could say. The pro's being getting to see you, doll face. And the con's being the fact that I was late to my first period and won't get to take my calc test for a few days"

Beth's facade fell as she let out a chiming laugh, raising a curious eyebrow as she nudged Camila with her shoulder before speaking.

"Mr.Leigh pulling out his old 'I already know you didn't study, get out' trick again? God, it's bullshit, but so damn funny to see happen to someone else"

The girls face kept a grin as she spoke, eyes shining with amusement. The two parted for a moment to maneuver through the halls, walking side-by-side seconds later.

"Not this time, actually. 'Was six minutes late and the old man wouldn't even let me in"

Camila scowled out, her expression dropping with annoyance at the previous events. Beth's lips pulled to a pout, bumping Camila gently as she gave a shrug and replied.

"At least he'll let you take it eventually, besides, that just gives you extra study time"

After giving a curt nod in conceded agreement, the blue eyed girl bid a smiled goodbye as she parted ways with Beth. Camila turned to pad into her next period's room, the subject being English. She glanced about the room, her mouth twitching into a languid grin as her gaze landed on William in all of his 5'3 glory.

The curly-haired boy's lips curled up into a similar smile as Camila sat beside him. The girl raised an eyebrow at the tanned boy, nodding her head towards the large empty desk usually occupied by the professor. William followed her motions before answering.

"Mrs. Glenda's out sick today, and the subs running late"

His voice was of a higher pitch, matching his complexion and vibrant green eyes to a t. He had a casual tone as he replied, his lips pursing with a shrug of his shoulders. Camila nodded in understand, mentally praying for a pushover substitute as she pushed a few fallen strands of hair from her face.

Surprisingly, her wish was granted. The class was given a free period since the teacher hadn't previously planned any lessons out for the sub. Camila spent the time mostly talking with William and a few other classmates, the time passing by quickly and painlessly.

As soon as the bell rang to dictate the end of the class, the brunette girl stood to leave, throwing a quick goodbye over her shoulder to William.

She made her way easily to her next period of Economics, teetering dangerously close to clawing her ears off the entire forty-five minutes. Camila had let out an audible sigh of relief the moment the class ended, rushing past the door and into the crowding hallways to scramble to her next class, Physical Education.

It's not that Camila hated sports, or exercise for that matter, it was simply that she hated its effects. She had no urge to roam around the campus with sweat pouring down her face and her hair frizzed to no relief. This reason was the cause of her deciding long ago to befriend the teacher of said class, Coach Miller, and work her charming skills to insure she never had to lift a finger during this period. Camila wouldn't call herself manipulative, rather, she was someone who explored all options, and if someone could help her achieve what she wished, they were to be utilized.

The blue eyed girl had her phone in hand as her classmates sprinted across the basketball court, a smug grin never leaving her lips whenever she caught someone looking on enviously. Camila often cursed her schedule for placing her in too few classes with people she actually enjoyed, rendering her without entertainment for most of her classes.

Camila let out a quiet sigh, her phone providing her with minimal enjoyment as the class droned on and on. She had her back rested against one of the cement walls encasing the gym and her head relaxed back as well when the bell sounded throughout the large room. Pushing her phone back into her pocket, she made her way out of the gym and back into the hallways, now heading towards the lunchroom as her stomach gave a light growl in recognition of the time.

Her lunch period went as follows: she sat with her usual group of friends, their table in the middle of the crowded lunch facility. The talk was little and unimportant, with no new gossip to discuss or create. Camila sat with a friend on either side. She had Sage to her left; the girls jet black hair ironed straight down with caramel eyes that gleamed with a regal effect. And to Camila's right sat Lucas; the tall boy had wavy blonde hair and eyes of a shocking blue.

Lunch was uneventful, as it usually was, and ended quickly and to no ones honest dismay. The brown haired girl made her way through her following four subjects, groaning only subtly through each. The second the final bell rang she rushed from her desk, ready to leave this hell hole as most kids were.
