Chapter FourShe had sat for a while, eyes wide and muscles tense as a wave of fear took hold of her. Camilla was scared, fuck, she was terrified. But she wasn't stupid. She had viewed enough horror movies to know that flailing about uselessly would get nothing accomplished; so, instead she sat. The girl sat with a constricted body, her fingers trembling as they clenched and unclenched in the fabric of her jeans, only tugging on the chains that held her wrists bound a few times. Camilla's eyes staying opened wide in caution, her heart pounding and breaths choppy and almost always catching in her throat.
She had things to consider, so many thoughts and ideas rushing through her cluttered mind at once. Her main questions were simple, not easily answered, but simple in themselves.
Why was she brought here?
Camilla knew she had been kidnapped, taken for whatever reason. She couldn't very well have sleepwalked her way into this situation.
How does she escape?
This was likely the most pressing of thoughts, though having a lovely chat with her kidnappers as to why they took her was tempting as well. Her small wrists were chained behind her, and though her legs were free, they wouldn't be strong enough to do the criminals any damage. She was trapped.
And finally, who the fuck was hyperventilating beside her?
Whatever room they were being kept in had no source of light, inconvenient, really. So the identity of Camilla's roommate was unknown. She would ask, she should ask, it's just- whoever was breathing raggedly across from her didn't seem like they were in the right state of mind to be answering any questions. So she continued with silence, until her anonymous roomie spoke up themselves.
"W-who's here? I know someone is"
So the mysterious heavy-breather was a boy, had to be with such a deep and syrupy voice. The sound of metal rattling together told Camilla that the boy was chained as well, so likely not a threat; and though she was still hesitant to answer, Camilla found herself replying with a dry and raspy voice.
"My names Camilla," she offered, licking at her chapped lips before she continued to speak, "and now that I've told you who I am, I think it's fair if you return the favor."
There was a moment of silence, in which Camilla guessed the boy was considering whether or not to answer her question.
"Harry. I'm Harry"
The boy's voice was calmer now, though the facade was obviously forced with the strain in his tone. Camilla nodded to herself, her mind spewing images of every Harry she had met in her life, though the list was few and none matched the voice of the boy.
"Do you know why we're here-? Or where 'here' is?" She questioned, knowing the chances of Harry having this information were slim, but seeing no harm in asking.
"No," his reply came, dripping with fear, "I don't know what's happening in the slightest. I don't know who's taken us, where we've been taken, why we've been taken- I don't know shit." His voice had changed to one laced with anger towards the end, and Camilla could hear the familiar rattling of his chains.
So- that left her at square one. No knowledge of what was happening- only now aware of the name of her fellow captive. Which; yea, wasn't helpful in the slightest at this point.
Camilla opened her mouth, preparing to continue to question the boy in hopes of getting more information out of him when she heard the quiet patter of off-beat steps echoing from out of the room, as if the person causing the noise was skipping.
Her breath caught in her throat as the steps seemed to come closer, finally ceasing when they had reached the entrance to the room, Camilla assumed. She curled her hands tightly, bringing her knees close to her chest in a defensive position as she waiting.
When the door opened, Camilla had expected light to shine in, for her surroundings to become illuminated and the identity of her kidnapper to become apparent. To her misfortune, none of this happened. The door was pushed open, and nothing but a flickering light fell upon the room from the hallways outside. Through the dim glow, all Camilla could make out was the blackened outline of the man. He was thin, had to be around five and a half feet at the most, and seemed to have scraggly and completely unkempt hair.
The only sounds resonating in the room after that were the labored breaths of Harry, though the noise was soon overtaken when the man before them began to giggle. It was unnerving in every sense of the word, it had a high pitch that was usually possessed by a child, and dripped with complete satisfaction and amusement.
The man had his hands clutched to his chest, wringing them together as he stepped closer to Harry's quivering form. He tsked lightly, reaching a shaky hand down to stroke at the boys face, causing Harry to jump, a petrified whimper falling from his lips. The action caused the stranger to laugh louder, shaking his head as he kneeled before the trembling boy. His hand outstretched once more, grabbing a tight hold of Harry's curls to wrench his head up roughly before using his free hand to per once again across his cheek.
Camilla watched on in horror and confusion, uncertain as to why this man had yet to say a thing.
"Who-who are you."
The girl finally demanded with a weak voice. Her eyes widened in terror as the man released Harry to stand up abruptly, turning to face her. She backed against the wall, regretting speaking up instantly as their kidnapper stalked towards her with quick steps. He kneeled before her as he had with Harry, grabbing her jaw with force as he leaned in to hush the girl, shaking his head in disapproval.
Camilla sat still, her body shivering in panic as the man kept a grasp on her before stepping back. Their kidnapper then stood, his arms crossing behind his back as he rocked on his feet with obvious glee. He finally spoke, his tone giddy as he uttered two shrill words:
"Play along."
