Time and time again

I spend the next week in the hospital it's a bad week the food in the hospital is really bad. Fin comes by to drive me back to the house. I have to rest for another week near the end I start going stir crazy sitting at home for a week there was nothing to but read, and watch cooking shows.

But once I did get back to the lab it was hard to adjust back in to the lab work. I am stuck on strictly lab work for a couple weeks. I am sitting staring in a microscope, analyzing some plants that were found at a crime scene. When Sara walks up behind me, there's a cracking sound I jump.

I turn a around she gives me a sad look " I am sorry" " it's ok I just a little jumpy " I hand her the evidence she looks me with a sad look on her face " look I know what it's like to go through something like you did a couple of years a go I was kidnapped and left to die under a car in the middle of the desert. It's gets easier" " thanks " I smile as Sara walks out.

I start to cry, when fin walks past the trace lab. She walks in and closes the door behind her then shuts the blinds as well she hugs me. I sit down and fin pulls up a chair.

Finlay ------ " are you ok"

Amber ----- " no I am not, I hate this everyone asking me if I am ok. And I know that everyone is just trying to be supportive but I don't like people feeling pity for me."

Finlay ----- " hey we all want to help but I know I hate feeling sorry for myself as well and don't like people pitying me"

Amber ----- " I don't know maybe I need to get away or something"

Finlay ----- " if you need to get away than you should you have to do what you need to do for yourself "

Amber ----- " I was thinking about maybe moving on from the lab but please don't say anything to anyone "

Finlay ----- " I won't "

She walks out of the trace lab. A couple hours later my shift ends I get home at 8 am so it's about 11 am I decided to call Avery she told me " if you need something call me " Allison is in her room watching Netflix's I call her. She walks in with her head phone in I can here her music with the head phone in. She sits beside me and pulls them out.

Allison ------- " what's up"

Amber ----- " well there I got an offer to work in Washington DC with the FBI and I wanted to know what you think "

Allison ----- " really that would be so cool we could go see the, Smithsonian, the museum of natural history, the jeffersonian Institute. That would be so cool"

Amber ----- " so you are ok with moving to DC leaving your friends, starting a new school"

Allison ----- " honestly I hate school here everyone looks at me like the girl who's sister who shot her mother "

Amber ----- " I am sorry I know this has been hard for you all the changes happening in our lives"

Allison ------ " I know "

Amber ----- " so I can take the job if I get it."

I call Avery I probably should have told Allison that I haven't even been had an offer. But I was pretty sure Avery would give me a job if I asked so I called her.

The phone rings " hello Federal Bureau of investigation cyber division how may I help you " I answer " yes hello I need to speck to with assistant director Avery Ryan please and tell her it's amber Carter" they hold music is quite relaxing.

When she finally answers

" Avery rayan speaking "

Amber ----- " hey Avery are you busy "

Avery ----- " no no I've got some time what's up "

Amber ----- " I need your help "

Avery ------ " yah anything "

Amber ----- " I need a job I can't work here anymore I just can't I am pretty good with computers"

Avery ----- " of course I actually need a forensic analyst anyway so I would be happy to have you working with me "

Amber ----- " so I am getting the job "

Avery ----- " yah it's yours "

Amber ---- " so when  do you need me in DC "

Avery ----- " five days "

Amber ---- " that works for me thank you so so much Avery."

I hang up the phone than watch a couple episodes of bones. I fall asleep on the couch. Then next morning I go in to the lab early a bit early to write up a letter of resignation.

Russell is sitting at his desk arguing with someone on the phone from what I can hear from down the hall he's arguing with his wife. I don't even enter  his office I just close the door then wait out side. He yells " I have to go Barbara"

I can hear him slam the phone down then I walk in. I sit on the chair, I can tell he upset " trouble in paradise" he raises his eyebrows " what's up"  I hand him the resignation forms.

Russell ----- " Your quitting "

Amber  ------ " yes I can't work here anymore I just can't "

Russell ------ " where will you go now ?"

Amber ----- " Avery has offered me a job with the FBI  and I have excepted the offer"

Russell ------ " well we're sad to see you go but I hope you find what you need "

We stand up and hug I say " ok I have to go sign off on my open case. I am just about to walk when he asks " when do you leave ?"  " two days " I answer  then walk out of his office.

I am signing off on my cases when Greg,Morgan, Sara and nick walk up behind me nick puts his hand on my shoulder I jump. Nick pulls his hand away fast, nick apologizes. I swing my chair around they all look at me Morgan looks over at my papers. I stand up they all look me, Greg says " your leaving " " yes " I answer, nick gives me a big hug then says " ok everyone at franks tomorrow morning" I smile " done " I go back to finishing my paperwork. The next few days go by really fast.

My last shift goes my fairy fast I clean out my locker then I go to hand in my kit but Russell says I can keep it as a reminder of what I've been through.

About an hour before my shift I was just expecting to go to lunch with Greg,Morgan,nick and Sara but I walk in to a layout room looking Russell, but I find everyone there nick,Sara,Greg, Morgan,fin,brass and Russell. With a cake we all hug. I thank everyone and they. I get them to sign my kit. As I walk out of the lab I put my headphone in and the song I lived my oneRepublic I cry as I walk out of the lab.
