Jack's POV

I need a ship.

The Black Pearl was stolen from me once again. All I did was dock the vessel, and some random scalawags (yes that is a word) decided to rob me blind. Unfortunately, we didn't see which way the bloody scoundrels had taken me ship. No way to know where they were.
As stated before, I need a ship.

Me and my crew walked down a wide but crowded street in Tortuga, where we had come into port. "Mr. Gibbs," I addressed my first mate. "Where did you say the captain of this ship would be?"

Gibbs looked over at me with something like nervousness in his eyes. "The Captain said to meet the first mate at The Battered Kidney, and we'd best be ready to sail immediately. Says they're leavin' anyway." (A/n "The Battered Kidney" is a reference to a pub in The Hero's Guide series by Christopher Healy)

"Immediately, eh?" My crew and I are ready, but it seems a bit suspicious that the Captain Gibbs is proposing we team up with wants us to be ready to leave straight away.

We arrive at The Battered Kidney, and I tell the rest of the crew, besides Gibbs, to stay and wait outside. Gibbs and I step inside to see a very respectable looking sailor sitting in a corner of the busy, bustling pub. His clean clothes and sharp look make him stand out like a sore thumb from every other dirty scalawag.

"I'm guessing that's the Captain's first mate?" I ask Gibbs, hoping it would be him and not the particularly filthy looking bildrat sitting in another corner of the building. I needed a good crew, a good captain, and an even better ship to be able to catch The Black Pearl.

"Aye, that's him," Gibbs grinned. He claimed he knew this crew, and said they were all trustworthy. So I believed him. Gibbs led me over to the first mate, who smiled and stood politely as we approached. "Mr. Arrow, sir! Wonderful to see you again!"

"It is delightful to see you as well, Mr. Gibbs," Mr. Arrow's deep voice boomed throughout the whole pub, although no one paid us any mind. "The Captain is waiting aboard the S.S. Wendy. We're ready to go immediately."

"Yes," Gibbs said, turning to leave, then, nearly bumping into me, suddenly remembered I was there, and hurriedly introduced me to the huge, burly sailor. "Captain Jack Sparrow, this is first mate Henry Arrow. Finest first mate you will ever meet."

"Good to meet you, Mr. Arrow," I said and shook his strong, sea weathered hand. "I guess we'll follow you to the ship, eh?"

"Indeed, Captain Sparrow." He walked out of the pub in a stately manner and proceeded to lead us all to his Captain's  ship.

Once me and my crew were aboard, Mr. Arrow yelled, "Alright ye scurvy dogs, get ready to set sail!"

Their crew shouted back an 'aye' and payed us no mind.

I approached Mr. Arrow. "So where is your Captain?"

Mr. Arrow looked up to the crow's nest and grinned. "The Captain is aloft." (Sound familiar, anyone?)

The Captain grabbed a rope that was close to him, and quickly descended to the deck, his coat fluttering around him. He let go of the rope about 10 or 15 feet from the deck, and landed perfectly on his feet.

His first mate addressed him. "Captain (l/n), this is Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew, as you requested."

Captain (l/n) looked up at me, and he looked sort of feminine...

Is the Captain...a woman?!

"I'm sorry, but are..you..the Captain of the (Ship Name)..?" I asked tentatively.

She narrowed her eyes at me and walked towards me until she was about 5 paces away. "Aye. Why do ye ask?"

"Well, nothing, it's just that...you're a.." I moved my hands around, trying to avoid the word 'woman,' figuring that would set her off.

"A?" she pressed me, and took a step closer. She smelled good, like flowers. Her (e/c) eyes shone sharply in the sunlight. Her loose (h/l) (h/c) hair blew about underneath her tricorn hat and around her jawline in the breeze.

"A...fine-looking Captain, Captain (l/n)." Blast that Gibbs! He knew I'd never have agreed to this deal if I'd known she was a bloody woman!

"Please, call me Captain (y/n), and was that a compliment..?" She looked me square in the eye, apparently not intimidated by the fact that I was the Captain Jack Sparrow.

"Of course it was, love," I said boldly, hoping they wouldn't be my last words. "What else'd you expect? I'm Captain Jack Sparrow! Savvy?"

She grinned. "Aye, I'd only expect as much from the likes of you, Jack Sparrow." She walked off to the helm, apparently leaving Mr. Arrow to tell us where to go and what to do.

"It's Captain Jack Sparrow!"
