As they rolled onto the scene it was eerily quiet. The black and white smoothly glided through the abandoned street surrounded by tall brick buildings. All officers were alert and on the lookout for the gunmen or their fellow police officers.
"Pete" Erika breathed looking to her left. A police car had clipped a lamp post and had its two left wheels on the curb.
A single shot ricocheted off of the side of the building above them. Pete stepped on the gas a pulled around the corner where the other car was. Ed and Jerry were in the entry way of a store with Woods sitting on the ground and Wells covering them.
Jim and Malloy crouched low as they moved quickly to where the pair was. "What happened?" Pete asked as he gestured to Woods. He was holding his arm in pain.
"Superman here discovered he might not be as good a driver as he thought. I'm sure it's just a bruise" Jim reached over and barely touched it before Jerry grimaced in pain. "Sure" Jim said before turning to Ed who was facing the building around the corner.
"Well?" "Well what?" Ed replied without turning around. "Fill us in" "We've got em trapped in that apartment building. No back way out. Two of them." He glanced back "Mac finally let you get rid of that female?" "No she's right-" Peter looked around and finally spotted her.
Erika was still in the car staring at the building. Pete ran over and opened the door. "Hey? You alright?" She looked at him startled. "Oh... oh yeah coming" she slid out on the same side but Malloy continued to watch her.
They sat and watched trying to come up with a plan. Pete began to speak "we should wait for more ba-" "Let's go!" Ed said suddenly rushing out onto the street. "Jim stay here!" Pete exclaimed realizing Ed needed back up. He motioned for Erika to follow.
They cautiously ran after the lone ranger and dove into the entrance before pressing themselves flat against the wall. "Are you insane" Pete whispered angrily. Ed shrugged "They were going up the stairs facing away from us. I saw them through a window" Erika swallowed hard and her heart beat wildly at being thrown into this so fast.
That was crazy! He didn't let anyone know what he was doing. Now she didn't know who to go with... who to follow. "Well we're here. Got a plan?" Pete asked still annoyed with Ed's lack of communication. "Yeah. Take em by suprise"
