I can't get my head around that stupid letter. Ava was imprisoned years ago, so how do they know?

What does it mean Zane'll break me. Of course he won't!

I pull at my dark locks in frustration, only to be comforted by Zane.

"Lil? What's wrong?" He asks, pulling me closer.

"Just old wounds re-opening" I answer, seeking comfort from my mate.

"Someone hurt you in the past?" His voice holds irritation and anger.

"Yeah" I answer, drifting back to sleep.

"Who hurt you?" He demands.

"I... don't wanna talk about it" I turn to face away from him as if to say 'end of'.

"But-" I cut his low voice off with a shove.

"Ugh" he groans before pulling me to his body.

"Zane, I'm tired" I mumble in protest.

I hear him snicker as he turns away. What the hell?!

"Why are you snickering?" I demand, sitting up.

"I can read minds, remember?"

"Sh*t"

"Did the innocent Lilith Woods just swear?" He  fakes a gasp.

"F*ck yeah, I did" I was so utterly annoyed at him right now. Just go to sleep!

"Go to sleep" I mutter, lightly smacking his arm.

"Not tired" he shrugs, yawning.

"You sure?" I smirk.

"Ugh" He turns away, pulling me with him.

"Eep!" I squeak as I role onto his muscled torso.

"That was relationship goals!" a very familiar voice squeals from the door.

"Emerald, you weren't supposed to go in there, your innocent mind could have been tainted" Alex chuckles, wrapping his arms around her tiny waist.

"Beta, Beta female" Zane greets.

"G-guys!" I shout, embarrassed for no reason.

"Why are ya embarrassed Lil? Were you gonna finish the mating ceremony?" Emerald jokes.

"IM NOT EVEN MARKED YET, YOU BUTT!" I shout, blush invading my face.

I run after her until Zane suddenly picks me up.

"Mine" he growls before biting into the soft flesh on my neck...
