~Natsu~

“Ugh.” Natsu inhaled deeply, thankful to be off the train. “I don't see why we couldn't have walked.”

“Then it would have taken us all day to get here,” Lucy sighed. “You'll be fine.”

“So heartless,” he whispered to Happy.

“Aye.”

“I heard that!”

He chuckled and scratched his head. “So, want to get something to eat?”

“We just ate,” Lucy frowned.

“But train rides make me hungry! You could eat something too, right Happy?”

“Aye!”

“Is that all you two think about?”

“No! I think about fish,” Happy sighed, dreamily.

“That's food,” Lucy told him.

“I think about the guild,” Natsu said. “And kicking Gray's--”

“Never mind,” Lucy sighed.

“Come on, Luce, let's get some food. Then we can go kill that monster and go home!”

“Fine.”

“Yay!” He and Happy cheered, dragging Lucy into the nearest restaurant. She watched quietly as they stuffed their faces, which was unusual for her. She's usually yapping about something.

“Hey, what's the matter?” Natsu asked, frowning at her. “Aren't you going to eat anything, or complain about us eating too much?” He expected some kind of response out of his last comment, but she just shrugged.

“Eat whatever you want. I'm going to go look around the town for a while.” She got up from the table and left. He knew that she knew he'd be able to find her, so she didn't need to say anything.

“What was that about?” Natsu asked Happy, staring after Lucy.

“Maybe she's on a diet?”

“Here, go ahead and finish. I'll catch up with you when you're done.” Natsu sat enough money to cover the meal onto the table before running after Lucy. “Hey, Lucy!” He called, catching up to her not far from the restaurant. “Why'd you run off?”

“I didn't. I just wanted to look around,” she shrugged.

“Are you feeling okay? You haven't been acting right since yesterday.”

“I'm fine,” she reassured him, smiling. Natsu could tell that it was forced.

Why won't she talk to me? We've been teammates for a long time, and we've been through a lot, so why isn't she telling me the truth? “You don't seem very fine.”

“Natsu, really,” she said, putting a hand on his shoulder. “I'm fine. Just go back to Happy and I'll meet up with you after you've finished eating.”

“But--” Suddenly, the ground started shaking, causing people to scream and run.

“Natsu!” Lucy shouted as she was pushed into the crowd of people running away.

“Gotcha!” Natsu grabbed her hand, pulling hard in order to free her. “Whoa!” She barged into him, sending them both the the ground.

“Thanks,” she laughed, awkwardly getting off of him and standing. “Natsu, look!” She gasped, pointing to something behind him.

He turned, immediately spotting the monster that they had come to kill. It looked very similar to the creatures they had seen on Tenrou Island during the S-Class exams, and stood about fifteen feet tall. “This'll be easy!” He told Lucy before charging it. “Fire Dragon—oompf!” The monster's spike-covered tail slammed into his gut, sending him flying backwards.
