Chapter Two

~Lucy~

“Where are those two?” Lucy sighed, sitting on a bench as she waited for the train. “They were supposed to be here ten minutes ago.”

“Lucy!” Natsu waved as he ran through the crowd towards her. “Sorry. We had a little trouble this morning.”

“He means that he got into a fight with Gray,” Happy snickered.

“Well, the train's late, so you're lucky,” Lucy told him.

“Do we really have to ride that? Why can't we walk?”

“It's too far to walk. We'll only be on the train for twenty minutes, so relax.”

“That's twenty minutes of hell!” Natsu moaned, collapsing onto the bench next to her.

“Don't be so dramatic. We'll be off the train before you know it.”

“Here it comes!” Happy announced from above them. He landed on the ground next to Natsu and followed him into the train when it arrived.

Lucy giggled at Natsu's sad state as the train made it's way towards the next town. He may talk big, but even Natsu has his weaknesses.

~Natsu~

“That was too easy,” Natsu complained. They had just finished their job, and decided to stop for a bite to eat before returning to Magnolia.

“That's why I was going to do it alone,” Lucy said.

“When we get back, we should take a harder job,” Natsu smiled, stuffing his face. Riding in vehicles always made him hungry.

“Two jobs in a row?”

“This one was easy! It hardly counts,” Natsu sighed.

“Maybe for you. Let's wait until tomorrow or something,” Lucy told him.

“Don't you need money to pay rent with? We haven't taken many jobs this month, so you could probably use the money.” He knew it was a dirty trick by using her rent, but he also knew that would definitely convince her to take another job with him. “We can even convince Gray and Erza to come along!”

“If you have those two, I don't need to come,” Lucy said, frowning down at her food.

Natsu frowned as well, confused as to why that hadn't worked. I was sure she'd want to go if Erza and Gray came with us. I thought maybe she just didn't want to spend all that time alone with me and Happy. “Fine, I won't invite them. You do need the money, right?”

“I always need the money,” she said, rolling her eyes.

“Then it's settled! You, me, and Happy will go on another job once we get back to Magnolia!” Natsu announced, excitedly.

“I'll only go if you wait until tomorrow. Do you really want to ride the train again so soon?”

“You win,” Natsu sighed, finishing his food. She had a point; he didn't want on another train again for at least a day or two.

~Lucy~

“Natsuuu,” Lucy groaned. He had broken into her house before the sun had even come up and woken her up. “The earliest train doesn't leave for at least another two hours. Why are you here so early?” She buried her face in her pillow, still exhausted.

“I found the perfect job last night before I left the guildhall, and I couldn't wait any longer to show it to you!” Natsu chuckled, gently pushing her over and laying next to her on the bed.
