~Natsu~
“I wonder what Lucy had to do so early today?” Natsu frowned, walking down the main street of Magnolia. “I wonder if it has to do with what she said to Gray yesterday?” They had been acting very suspiciously when he got to her apartment, and he had seen Gray put his hand on Lucy's that afternoon in the guildhall. What are they hiding?
“Gray, wait up!” Lucy's laugh from the next street caught his attention, so he followed it, careful not to be seen. What are they doing? He saw Lucy and Gray walking together, periodically stopping to look inside various shops.
“What are you doing?” Happy's voice caused him to jump, and nearly fall off the roof he had been using to spy.
“Who, me? Nothing?” Natsu laughed, scratching the back of his head.
“Were you watching Lucy and Gray?” Happy asked, peering around him. “Are they on a date?” He suddenly asked, gasping.
“What? No!” Natsu frowned.
“It sure looks like it,” Happy told him, pointing down to the street below. Gray was holding a bouquet of flowers, which he handed to Lucy. She smiled before grabbing his hand and running down the street. “They have been acting strange for a few days. Maybe they're secretly dating or something,” Happy suggested, a hint of conspiracy in his voice.
“They couldn't be,” he said, shaking his head. “There's no way Lucy would like that stripper.”
“Why not?” Happy asked. “Apparently, they have a lot in common. And he read part of her novel, remember?”
“So?” Although, that was strange. She had nearly killed him when he tried reading it, so why would she only take it away from Gray? And why would they be secretly meeting up early in the morning to hang out together?
“Are you going to follow them?” Happy asked, watching as they disappeared onto another street.
“If they are on a date, we shouldn't spy on them,” Natsu said, heading in the opposite direction. “Leave them alone.” He was angry about Happy's theory, and didn't want to believe that that's what they had been hiding from him.
“Aren't you going to stop them?” Happy asked, flying after him. He didn't seem to be bothered by what was happening at all.
“Why should I?”
“You lllllllllike her,” Happy giggled.
Do I like Lucy? I thought it was just natural that I would want to spend time with her, since we're teammates and all. But, maybe that isn't the case. Maybe I do like Lucy. Natsu frowned at himself. That's the only explanation for why I'm so angry and depressed about seeing her with Gray, and why I constantly want to be around her. “Argh! Damn it!” Natsu gave a frustrated shout, sitting down on the roof he had been walking across. “I think you're right, Happy,” he sighed, “but what good does that do me now?”
He imagined going on future jobs with their usual team, and Gray coming to Lucy's rescue instead of him. Or, sneaking into Lucy's house to find Gray already there. Again, that bugged him more than anything. Gray has seen her naked, too, hasn't he? Natsu felt his entire body heat up at the thought. This is bad. I think... I think I'm in love with Lucy. However, it appeared that he was too late to do anything about it. If they really are secretly dating, that means they have already told each other that they like them.
If Lucy likes Gray, then that means there no way she she'll return my feelings. Feeling unusually depressed before a job, Natsu stood up. Sighing heavily, he and Happy went to the train station to wait on Lucy.
